Yeah and how long exactly did it take for Brady to backtrack? A week or so, nothing says honest and genuine like caving to external pressure...

I know it, he's really ****ed Patriot fans. What an ******* he is. I don't know why any Patriot fans like him, they could have won those Lombardi's with any stiff at quarterback.

Whereas you, who has done more for this franchise than any stupid player has, were with them right from the start. Kraft really ****ed up, the statue at Gillette should be of you writing a post on Patsfans.com.

Two things can be true at the same time. We were privileged to have him and all the glory he gave us on the gridiron. At no point is anyone questioning what he accomplished as a player.

And yes he is a giant fraud and sellout, and yes his statement makes him a giant *******.

It really is amazing how the smallest things get people here to go deep into the feels.

There is no football for 2 weeks, what else are we supposed to do but overanalyze these details.

There we disagree, imo the giant fraud and ******* is you. You pretend to respect what he did for this franchise but claim he's a giant ******* simply because he didn't act as a cheerleader for the Patriots when he's part owner of another team. If you can't understand the obvious conflict of interest then that's your problem, not Brady's.

A team “owner” can’t show favoritism, he made need to make a trade or deal with these teams in the future. He needs to stay neutral like Switzerland.
This really isn't true and I can't find anything about that in the NFL rules. It might look distasteful and be bad business for the league as a whole but there isn't anything forbidding it.

He probably does not want to openly cheer for NE at the risk of annoying his new HC (Kubiak) and the organization he co-owns (Raiders).

He does not want to cheer for Seattle at the risk of upsetting Patriots fans and the Krafts.

There was no right answer except for what he said.

So by that logic I can't appreciate anyone's accomplishments unless I consider them to be an exemplary person...

Like I can't think the Aaron Hernandez was a great TE on the field or that OJ was an elite RB or Dennis Rodman was a world-class defender....I can keep going all day

It didn't take you long to start name calling me and getting personal huh. I mean opinions and thought can't possibly be shared without this personal, schoolyard nonsense...I have an extraordinary amount of sympathy for anyone that has to spend any amount of time around you.

I keep hearing this argument about upsetting Kubiak, but I honestly don't get it. Are you telling me that Brady is about to hand his franchise over to a HC who doesn't have the stones to handle the owner rooting for a team he spent 20 years with, one that erected a statue of him outside their stadium??? If that is actually true Kubiak doesn't have the emotional fortitude to be a head coach.

Damn shame he’s not a minority owner of the Patriots.
Is it? Not like Tom has had a great start over in Vegas. The Patriots are back in the Super Bowl and his Raiders are a dumpster fire.

That could obviously change but I’m not particularly sad that he doesn’t have a stake in decision making here.

Ooops. For the 10,000th time this year a Patsfan has run their mouth way too soon and ended up looking like an idiot.

Brady just put out an instagram post rooting for the Patriots to " go win your 7th.."

Some people just never learn. But the more I think about it is really just Sam being Sam, I.e... a complete idiot, to the very end.

He's backtracking from all the crap his ex teammates are giving him.

Couldn't agree more. Legendary player, but as a front office guy he hasn't done squat.

And that's why they race horses, we aren't all the same. It's a 'bad take' from where you sit, a realistic one from my seat. You my friend are as entitled to your passionate opinion as I am to my cynical one. I still love the laundry, my old Pat Patriot stadium seat, the signed Hannah, Grogan, Branch and Wilfork jerseys are all still in their places on my den walls and when I go out the door like as not Pat Patriot will be on my jacket and hat. (We are never going to agree on the abomination that is the Flying Elvis, now that IMO was a true sell out but a subject for another time) As long as I draw breath I'll gladly pay my end of our season tickets every year even if it is so the kids (heck, often their kids) can use them these days. THE PATRIOTS, not Tom Brady, are part of the fabric of our family and the divvying up of the tickets will always be a family holiday here.

Brady is an odd duck and a Cali guy he was never 'Our Tommy!' We just once thought he was, some of us for longer than others. As a passionate long time real deal Pats fan if you want to be pissed off at corporate sold his soul Tom Brady, that is your right. Just as it is mine to simply ruefully shake my head and go about my business. Brady isn't Grogan, he didn't make us his own he didn't stay here when he was done playing and he isn't one of 'us'. We got our championships from Brady's efforts and I'm immensely thankful for them. From where I sit he gave his all while he was here and that's the only thing I feel any professioanl athlete ever owes any of us. You feel Brady continues to owe your emotional investment more despite his not being here anymore. I would invite you to consider Brady was a contracted employee of the Patriots. He was drafted by the team, not born unto us. What he does or doesn't do isn't personal, it's just business. He doesn't know us and any more than we know him.

I honestly respect you and your passion Tune, that isn't contingent on us agreeing on everything. Please continue to feel free to call me out whenever you feel you need an explanation for any position I take. I'll do my best to give it to you and I hope it'll be understandable. A fair weather clown shoe wearing Sam though can kiss my ass.

FU Tom Brady? Not me. I say "Thank you Tom Brady. I'm sorry you're not the guy we wish you were but I know that's an us thing. Thank you for the rings and I hope you have a good life.*"

* And please stop with the cosmetic surgeries Dude, they aren't your friend

I think we're more in agreement than not, mostly that the "bad take" part (I felt) was ascribing fan upset over Brady's faux pas to emotional immaturity.

For anyone slow on the uptake, Tom's recent actions/inaction have made it abundantly clear that New England/the Patriots/Patriot fans are far down his priority list. Yet, he continues to trade on the legacy forged here through which two decades of fan support helped enable his fame and fortune. That much is indisputable. Yes, he gave us a lot and owes us little beyond PERHAPS a smidgen of gratitude, acknowledgement -- maybe a nod and a wink? When the guy throws us a bone proclaiming loudly under the spotlight, "I am a Patriot for life!" well, it's not unreasonable (or childish) to assume a meaningful connection between him and the franchise and by extension, its fans.

If that was just lip service, if he truly was just a hired hand turned shallow corporate automaton with no real integrity ... I guess that makes me and a lot of other folks romantic idealists (suckers). I don't feel personally slighted or "eff you Tom" angry over this, just disappointed and a bit sad.

I ascribe most everything Sam posts to emotional immaturity. My question to you is how can you not?
Brady choosing his words poorly is nothing new, to me this falls into the 'C'mon man' category not the FU category.
Hell Tune, asked if he cheated he responded "I don't think so." When he's not talking football the man doesn't exactly have a talent for choosing the right words.

He's backtracking from all the crap his ex teammates are giving him.

That's probably true, but I still come back to one basic point, he owes us NOTHING. He worked his ass off for 20 years to bring Patriot fans more success than any football fans have ever seen. 9 AFC Championships and 6 Lombardi's. Isn't that enough?

Could Brady have handled this better? Sure. But he clearly has conflicts of interest that other former players don't have.

According to you a person who doesn’t idolize a player has no passion, that’s silly, Tom is my favorite all time athlete just like Bill is my all time favorite coach but they are not my idols, maybe you and I just have a different definition of what an idol is which is fine. Also to be as dedicated as a fan that I am takes a whole hell of a lot of passion. LOL!
My Idol’s were always my Mom and Dad. As a kid I had one sports idol. Bobby Orr
I loved watching Bird, Brady and Papi. But they were not an idol by any means. I was a young adult and other than them being key Boston figures for my passion for sports they were just great entertainment and they were my favorites.

Orr on the other hand was during the young dreaming years. Who didn’t want to be him. Met him later in life and he did not disappoint. Class act.

For the young kids Drake would be a great idol. Also class act
