I think my AFC Championship game thread was well received, so I'm going to do it again for the Super Bowl.

I'm going to modify it though so that you can make two choices, for the people who want to vote for RLKAG but also would like to actually make a vote so that they don't have to choose. But the votes will be public, so no monkeying around or I'll hire Ian to rough you up, and you DON'T want that. He's a crazy man! Also you'll be allowed to change your vote if news comes during the lead up to game time.

For the AFCC Game the results were
No way Pats can lose: 1.5%
Very confident: 19%
Mostly confident: 50.4%
50/50: 16.8%
Mostly pessimistic: 0%
Very pessimistic: 0%
No way Pats can win: 0%
RLKAG: 12.4%

As for me, I'm less confident than I was for the AFCC game. I'm thinking about 60-40 right now in favor of the Seahawks, so I'm going with mostly pessimistic. I don't think we have zero chance like some jokers, but we haven't been playing lights out football through the playoffs and the Seahawks look really good.

What say you?

The Patriots defense is on a playoff run nearly at the same level as the 2000 Ravens and 85 Bears.

I'd call that lights-out, personally.

Sorry, I meant the offense. My bad.

This game makes me think of Mike Tyson's "everyone has a plan until they're punched in the mouth." The key is how we respond to their punch to the mouth. Could see it getting out of hand, but could also see us blocking the punch and hitting back. I believe it will be the latter, but the toughest test for sure.

The Chiefs were a 2 point favorite last year.

I give us about a 45% chance of winning. If our defense plays like they have all playoffs that moves up to 65%. But I think Seattle will get their 1 or 2 big plays for 10-14 points and offense will need to be back to regular season form to win it. This bye will be great timing for Maye's shoulder

I think there's a good chance the defense gets to Darnold. I think there's a better chance that JSN has a day. I also think that JMcD's experience will show and Maye will be ready. In the end, Seattle's D is freakin' real good, and the Pats might come up short.

Regardless of what Marko Ramius says, 50/50.

I went 50-50 but I give slightest of edges to Pats because Darnold Vs Maye. Maye can carry a team, Darnold can play well in the system and hit the right reads but not Stafford or Maye level if tight windows.
I think it’s gonna come down to turnovers

Let Maye Loose: he can't be stopped in almost perfect conditions.

I'm doing my fancy little analysis that got SB51 and (sadly) SB52 correct as far as the winners go (as well as some of the stat lines for players). For now, I'm mostly confident that, without turnovers, we've got a real shot.

There's not really an option that characterizes how I feel.

"I'm 50/50, it could go either way." I am picking SEA to win, wouldn't call it 50-50. Hope I'm wrong though.

"I'm mostly pessimistic, We'll be lucky to win." Saying that we'd be lucky to win is unfair. I think we'll lose, but we don't need to be "lucky" to win.

"I'm very pessimistic, we only win if everything goes wrong for the Seahawks." Way too strong.

I guess if I had to pick I'd go with mostly pessimistic, we'll be lucky to win. But I don't want to put that bad juju in the air. I think we're a pretty complete team across the board but so are they and I think they have a little bit higher level of talent overall across that completeness.

The Seahawks may win, but I don't think they are that good of a team. They had no business getting the #1 seed and would've lost week 18 had the 49ers not had the "The Replacements" (not the band) out there. Like the AFC, NFC was pretty weak. Rams should've at least had a chance to win last Sunday if not for McVay's awful decision going for it with over 5 minutes to play and 3 timeouts.

Media keeps talking about defenses other than NE only to find out the NE's secondary is a terrible matchup for the teams they've faced. Pats also have a run defense that has been stalling run games forcing 3rd and longs. If Gonzalez wins his matchup, Seahawks will have a hard time scoring.

On the other hand, the Pats offense has to wake up. They won't win this game unless their defense plays lights out.

It's 50/50 with me.

I am happy Sam Darnold made it this far but we remember what happened to Cinderella.

IF Gonzo keeps JSN under 100yds the Seahawks are in trouble.

Voted for Ray. Can’t deny an absolute truth.

Also, because I’m somewhere between the 50/50, and mostly pessimistic.

I’m only a little pessimistic. If I had to bet I think we’ll lose a close one. Yet I wouldn’t be particularly surprised if we won either. Seattle is damn good, but they aren’t some juggernaut.

It's tough on paper but Darnold is due a bad game and Maye is due a good one.

Darnold had the game of his life last week now people just assume that's what we're gonna get, what's the chance he does that in back to back games as much as he has improved he did still lead the league in turnovers.

The Seahawks might be a better overall team than the Rams but the path to victory is much clearer to see, you pressure Darnold into mistakes and he essentially gives you the game, The Rams were going to put up points the Seahawks SHOULD but there is quite a possible world where Darnold just has one of his mediocre/bad games of which he still had plenty this year.

His last 9 regular season games he only had 2 games where he had more TDs than turnovers, this isn't some unstoppable juggernaut they've played 2 good games against 2 division opponents one which was completely crippled by injuries.
