It ain't like driving on the Mass Pike. It is winding, curvy mountain roads of increasing/decreasing elevation. Hell, that's where the Donner Family ate each other.
Oh I know, I’ve been that way several times. Been to Reno and stopped in Truckee, really loved it there. I lived in the East Bay, and had to go to Reno for a wedding.

Since I love the SF Bay Area, that’s why I would love to go to the game. Two of my favorite things, love going to the Bay Area, I go every year on vacation, and plan to retire there. Plus I would love to see my beloved Pats in the SB in Santa Clara. But I can’t justify the price. It’s just too much. Even at $6500 I can’t justify it. Thats $6500 just for the ticket (cheapest I’ve seen), and then have to get the air fair, and food and Ubers, we’re talking 10 grand total most likely. I don’t know how most people pull it off. But hats off to those who do.

I know that watching the game at home with some great wine and bourbon will be a far more enjoyable experience but I am considering going since I travel to the Bay Area for work often.

How do these ticket prices start off so high so fast? Is it the NFL selling them right out the gate at thousands of dollars each or are they like every other game where face value is like $300 and people just resell them?

Largely the NFL selling them right out of the gate. The league does lotteries for season ticket holders of participating teams. If you win the lottery you get to buy the ticket at face value which was ~$300-500ish but my knowledge is out of date. Premium outings like the Super Bowl have absolutely skyrocketed in costs since the post-COVID wealth concentration era we're in (Thanks Taylor Swift!).

Yeah the last Seahawks SB they were over 10k. I expect much of the same or worse. Still kicking myself for not going in 2011 tix dropped to under $900 just before kickoff. I almost left that morning about an 8 hour drive to Indy. I "went" to Phoenix, Houston and Atlanta. Borrowed a TV and antenna from Walmart and tailgated near the stadium watching the game. It was cool being in the atmosphere without the crazy tix prices.
I know you're right.

I was at that Pats vs Seahawks SB. Seattle people would sell their home to have enough to buy SB tickets. I met folks from Mass who bought SB tickets online for 3K and the ticket broker sold the same seats to Seattle fans for 9K.

Had two couples park next to us. They bought four tickets previously for $2500 each the broker refunded the money and resold them. When they arrived day of I told them we had just seen the tickets going for 10k in the stubhub booth. A while later they came back and had bought four tickets for 40k+.

Literally in my backyard
I live in San Jose so it's a 10 minute drive away

If yalll need tips to get to the stadium and save yourself money let me know

Hi Patsfans! I’ve been lurking on this forum for 20 years. Ive enjoyed the insights and arguments over the years much to the chagrin of my own productivity. So THANK YOU all so much, especially, Ian.

I talk Patriots with my father almost daily year-round. He’s getting older now and with the Pats exceeding all expectations and making it - and - the game being played in the Bay Area where I live, I just pulled the trigger on tickets. If anyone has any advice I’d love to hear it.

Were they from Mass?

A Seattle woman bought a pair of 50 yard line lowers day of the game for her and Son @ 25K each. It seemed to me that Seahawks fans outnumbered NE fans at that SB. I watched the game at the AZ Pats fans club with a bunch of Pats fans from Boston who were screwed out of their tickets. I got to the AZ Pats club around 8 am to make sure that I could nab a seat.

Welcome to this board.

I've been to 7 SBs. My tip is to find the media hotel and hang around there, Youll see the whos who of the NFL - players, coaches and obviously media. Other athlete's too.

My 2007 SB ticket was $900 face value. 50 yard line 3rd level @ Glendale, AZ. I bought for $1000 from an ESPN guy who had to work last minute.

My 2011 SB ticket was $700 face value. 25 yard line 2nd level Loge @ Indy, IN. I paid $1000 again from a ticket broker from Canada 30 minutes before kickoff.

I went to the Pats-Rams SB and it was amazing. Tickets were really cheap for that game (I got a ticket for about 3k the week before). I'm so damn happy I did it.
I was there, but couldn't score a ticket.

Prices came down mid week to about $1700b for uppers, but then shot up and never came back down. I used to live in Atlanta so it was great to visit old friends and see how much the place had changed. I could never live in that that type of city again and spend half my life in traffic.

My ex won tickets for 3 years. This is her last year, and she’s an eagles fan. Should I hit her up?
How much would she mark them up?

Hah. I’ve been to Pats games, prime time/playoffs what have you. I way prefer my couch to the stadium.

Now that I'm middle aged, I have settled in to being a homebody. I save a lot of money.

No they were Seahawks fans presumably from Seattle.

Easily outnumbered us. It had to be 3-1. Have to say though they were the nicest folks. But that stupid Sea.....Hawks chant was beyond annoying.

I recall some Seattle fans that were mouthy and over confident.

They came to the Pats fan club to talk crap.

I went to the last NE-Seattle game in Glendale and was fortunate my sister lives there. Tickets were $2K each and went up to $9K on game day. I considered selling but didn't. It killed me that there were 4 empty seats in the row in front of us, giving us a great view but the opportunity costs...... My wife encouraged me to go, " you never know if they'll make it back". Well they did 4 more times.....(Atl, PHL, LAR, SEA).
It is an experience, from SWAT teams. security apologizing for the pat downs, celebrity watching and all the free swag....

As far as experiences/things to do outside of the game (if I buy tix it won't be a VIP package), is there anything I need to be booking now? Or is it all just stuff I can roll up to? I expect to be in town starting Friday morning.
