Kraft today: when schedule goes to 18 games, EVERY team will play once overseas

League was better when it had a 16 game schedule, 6 playoff teams, less networks and before fantasy football took off which led to soy boy rules.

Last but not least....the game was better without Goodell.
Gotta keep growing revenues so Goodell can keep growing his salary. It’s not enough to earn enough that his offspring won’t have to work for many generations.

It's touching how much the NFL cares about player health and safety.

2) Yes, there will be increase in money to the players, but that is always the case in any negotiations.
Florio is worried the NFL is going to try to adjust to a set salary cap with predetermined increases instead of the current cap where the players get a percentage of (certain) revenues.

I hope and pray the players aren't stupid enough to fall for that.

Let me guess, they'll add two more Wild Card teams to the playoffs too

Don't like it. Don't like the higher chances of injury, don't like watering down the importance of every game, and honestly the reason I don't follow MLB, NHL, NBA is because there are too many games to care about. Don't want the NFL to start inching further and further into that territory
Yup. I don't watch NBA because I'm not a Basketball fan. MLB has always been 162 games for as long as I can remember, that never bothered me, what does is when they expanded the playoffs. Used to like it better when you had to win a pennant to make the playoffs And the NHL is a **** show, too many teams , too many games, and the stupid shoot-outs and and 3 pt games.

IIRC, wasn't there supposed to be another bye week added if an 18th game was added?

having every team get an overseas game makes sense. I hate it, but it makes sense.

The NFLPA ceded the right to the NFL to unilaterally add a 17th game in exchange for extra money. There are no provisions in the current CBA for an 18th game, so it would require new negotiations.

Better for us, not better for the people who write the checks and give us games to watch and teams to follow.

Speaking of the international games only here: back when the Pats went to London, pretty much everyone on the team loved the experience. Kraft said, not entirely as a joke, that they'd be willing to be an away team every year the way the Jaguars are/were a near-permanent home team.

I'd say Krafty Bob will have the Pats playing in Israel.....but their biggest stadium only holds about 31K.

I smell a work stoppage coming

Greed and you'll need 10 different streaming apps
I can't imagine the NFL owners are that stupid, considering that baseball has fallen off a cliff trying to follow that model.

Then again, I look at some of these owners...maybe they are that stupid.

With all due respect, we've been hearing "they'll ruin the game before too long" for 25 years now, and the game is stronger than ever.
You're right. It should be zero preseason and 20 regular season games

In the course of crafting a snarky post you forgot to read what you're allegedly responding to. What I SAID was 16 games was the sweet spot that should not have been messed with. Apparently you share none of my concerns re. injury attrition and watered-down quality of play.
I do not, just as I didn't when we first went past 12 game seasons.

There are many solutions to the number of injuries. I do NOT that injuries are heavily affected by the number of games, particular pre-season games. Sure, the league could allow even more elevations. The active roster has already been increased by 4, to include the 3rd QB, 8th OL and 2 elevations. The Practice Squad is large enough.

The patriots have had lots of injuries. I don't see that the number of players on their roster hurt us although, as I said, a couple of more elevations would be fine.

The union should continue to negotiate better safety and playing conditions. HOWEVER, they shouldn't be negotiating for less practice and camp time. It is that lack that has contributed to injuries, not adding a game instead of a preseason game.

Surely lower attendance, fewer games, fewer games on TV, much lower revenue is good for SOMEONE. ROFL

By standards of many here, owners are very stupid. That quality is how they got very rich in their past enterprises and how they have made billions in the increased value in their football teams.

Posters who favor going back to the pure 12 game seasons don't favor international games. They don't care that the fans that attend want more of them, or that players like them or that the owners like them, or that they make American football more and more popular throughout the world.

Many fans just want the good old days!

This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone ...

This scuttlebutt has been around since the league went to 17 games

You should be asking yourself why are they asking for more games and going on world tours? The ratings have been inconsistent over the last several years and for good reason. The league isn't what it was 20 years ago. The lack of true super stars in the NFL are severely lacking. Player and HC turnover have gotten out of hand. Why do you think they've expanded rosters? More games and playoff teams means the margin of error of making the playoffs increases. Starting 0-2 used to be a death wish, now they can start 0-4 or 2-5 and have no problem making the playoffs like the Texans.

The rise of fantasy football/betting is the only reason the league exploded in revenue, but that is going plateau (if not already). You are going to see more teams implode every year because there too many games and injuries will pile up. The product as a whole has been awful since 2020.

Just because you make more money, doesn't mean you have a good product. Just ask Nike.

I'll finish by using your acronym of "ROFL".
