It used to be that AFC away games were on CBS, NFC away games were on FOX. The current system is designed to help "equalize" the slates on the two networks so one network doesn't get all the "good" games.
Yeah, that's that rationale I heard. Still, I liked the predictability. But it's not like the NFL is the only one doing things that way.
My thought has always been that for maybe somewhere between 100-200 dollars a season, offer a team subscription package. You get all your favorite team's preseason/regular season/postseason games, no matter where you are in the world. I think/hope that would be a moneymaker for the NFL. *and yes, I know this is a pipe dream*
