Patriots Injury News The Patriots placed WR Mack Hollins on IR

That is pretty lousy. He is an energy guy who fits his role perfectly, that matters.

Most of these players play prominent roles. We are a banged up team limping into the postseason.

Seems that would be season ending.

Previously Barefoot had sports hernia surgery in the offseason. So plenty of time to heal, and then suffered a setback late in camp and missed the first four games of the season.

So, if he had another one he’s out for the year. Not sure that’s what he has this time but it seems most likely. Would be particularly concerning if it’s in the same location but of course that’s purely worst case speculation.

For now eligibility to return seems moot.

Agreed. And add in scar tissue, ect from the previous injury, extensive rehab ect. He absolutely is a specimen and takes good care of his body. But as I mentioned nfl players unfortunately don't get healthier as they age...

Terrible news. He's a huge favorite of Maye on third downs and long situations. They're pretty ****ed. Unless they can magically be able to run the ball effectively I don't see them making much playoff noise without hollins.

This is a gut punch! We can get by the next two games but…

He's had a solid year. Way above expectations. Losing a solid vet with playoff experience is a tough blow.

It's a tough blow for the depth but if losing Mack Hollins derails your season you were never a real threat to begin with.

If it was Diggs then we'd have a real problem, Hollins should be replaceable as long as someone else doesn't go down, i know he's good at blocking for the run game but we need to replace about 40 yards a game.

Another great season ruined by injuries late in the season.

Reminds me of 2015.

I’m not concerned. Boutte will get more targets and Diggs, Williams and Douglass will get more snaps.
3 cache for 37 yards a game playing 68% of the snaps can be easily replaced
He's more valuable than that.
He has made big catches at key times for first downs, and several were tough, high catches no one else on our roster is making.
You've ben consistent on your thoughts on him since training camp, as have I, we just see his value differently.

I'm concerned with what happens to the quality of the blocking. Who makes up for that? It sure won't be Boutte or Douglas. Hollins' absence will impact Henry's game, maybe not so much the next two weeks but it's going to hurt against quality opponents

Also you're right and he's wrong.

This ain’t the same as losing Edelman. Not even close. In fact, I would argue having Henderson is more critical to our playoff success. Mind you, I want Hollins back ASAP

That’s a blow for sure, but I’m confident our WR room will step up.

Guess I missed Jared Wilson being out again too, yikes.

It's not just the run game where Hollins' blocking will be missed
