A "down" few games one year doesn't change several years of elite play- especially when his coach and team isn't doing him any favors.
I mean, you're welcome to make excuses if you want.
I see a running QB about to hit the wrong side of 30.

He hasn't seemed the same this year for me.

Maybe it's the everything around him, but he take a lot of hits.
Thats the part that bears watching QBs like Allen, LJax in which running is a big part of their games will eventually wear down faster than "pocket" QBs.

Honestly, the overall take there is a bit more circumspect than I'd expect from a division rival board.

Yeah, you've got your haters, but overall...

There are legitimate questions to be asked. Can Maye consistently deliver in the 4th quarter in clutch situations? Can his game translate to the playoffs? These aren't totally unreasonable questions. Of course, they hope he'll fall flat on his face. We know the odds are MUCH better that he's going to be elite no matter the circumstance.

There's a reason many RB's are done at 30.

Allen takes hits like a RB.

At least Lamar protects himself, even though he's injured more.

I mean, you're are welcome to cherrypick a few games to say he is on the downside of his career when last year he won the MVP.

It bears watching but nothing he is doing physically is telling you he is slowing down. Hes still going to pass for 4k yards, throw for ~30tds and run people over.

Correct. Allen gets hit about 150 times a year while Tom got hit around 45.

I think some posters are jumping the gun by implying Allen is on the downside of his career. There is no evidence that is he there yet.

It's the same argument people were making when Tom was "human" in 2013, early 2014, 2018 and 2019.

Its entertaining, just like some of our own threads. Every week I look at the next opponents boards, I find it interesting to see how they feel about us and/or the up coming games.

I visited Chiefs Planet once, I followed a link someone posted here. Never again. You reach a certain age and you begin to be cautious with what you expose whatever you have left for brain cells to.

When they asked him what his wife had taught him, Allen replied, "that I'm more than just a football player."

I'm not saying the "it" is gone forever, but he looks to me like a guy who is tired of getting beaten up.

Interesting.

Kids a stud “this season”……not sure how he’ll look with a harder schedule and a year for teams to really game plan for him. Remember Tua looked like a top 3 QB at one point.

In what exact universe did Tua ever look like a top 5 QB at any point in his career? He's ALWAYS looked like Tim Tebow

What is a top 5 QB?

In 2023 Tua was top 5 in almost every statistical category.

That does not mean he was a top 5 QB.

He is in the Goff bucket.

Yeah, pretty reasonable takes. We shouldn't lean over our skiis too much yet.

I don't have any animosity toward Bills fans they are a good bunch in person when I've hung with them.

To expect Maye to be ranked above the likes of Allen, Kermit, etc, is not super reasonable....they are future legends, and Maye is still in the proving ground.

The guy adamantly arguing that Wyoming is a better school than UNC academically and in sports is about what I expect from the average Buffalonian.

It's really hard to say.

Someone like John Elway reinvented himself and was a better QB at 38 than he was at 28.

He ran less, became a much better passer.

Actually, Elway had a hard time throwing the ball early in his career. He improved as a thrower.

Yep and the offensive coaching and talent surrounding him later in is career helped him improve as a passer.

I feel dumber having read that thread.

You know deep down Bills fans are anxious for the next showdown at Gillette. It's going to say a lot about their window.
