Patriots Injury News Will Campbell Week 12 Injury [11/26 update: Placed on IR]

Exactly: this situation makes that #1 Bye-Week an absolute "Must" now. It's not about getting in the playoffs now: We could have the Top Seed in the AFC.
We don't know yet. Why can't we just sit with that for awhile.

Days like this I look at what these guys pony up to play the game and I'm far from jealous. Yay, everybody knows my name and they love me and I have no unmet financial needs, pretty much evah... meanwhile, pain...
Yes, though many of these guys are not in the league long enough to have no unmet financial needs. It’s a tough gig for tough people.

WEEI saying it’s an MCL for Campbell?
They’re probably reading the same stuff we all read on Twitter/X from doctors. No one knows until the MRI. Chances are probably good that he’s probably done for most of the regular season. The question now is is he coming back before the playoffs.

As a highly trained physician with 30 years of experience, I can definitively say that Campbell suffered a leg injury in the vicinity of the knee.

Anything more is just speculation until MRI results come back.

I also think he will live, one way or the other.

It's very sad. He seems like a really sound team member, and a positive presence, even aside from his play, which has been sweet as a nut. (There's an old idiom for ya). I'm assuming we won't see him again this year, and I hope he makes a full recovery, for his sake and ours.

No doubt this game has left us with a diminished chance of "doing something" in the playoffs." I have said from the start that this year for me is all about making progress in the rebuild, and that I didn't much care what the record would be, except insofar as the record is evidence of such progress, or whether we made a cameo in the playoffs. I still don't. The progress is real and remarkable. Our coach is a self-acknowledged ******* (Blaming the injuries on press discussion? What horseshit,), but he's great at his job. We have the best OC in the league. We have a qb who is the envy of most of the league. So far as I am concerned we are already at "mission accomplished" this year.

There's is still a lot to be done filling out a very thin roster, of course. That'll be next year's task. If we manage to rebuild from the complete crap status we had in Bill's last couple years, post Brady, and in Mayo's outlandishly bad tenure to being genuinely competitive in two years, that's a real accomplishment. I consider this to be the first year of the rebuild. Late Bill/Mayo didn't accomplish squat.

I'm glad our record is as good as it is because that's empirical evidence we are doing well in the rebuild. The details of our participation in the post season are no more important to me now than they were at the start of the season, which is to say, not important at all.

All I know is other teams will go after our left side till the cows come home. Big void... the penalties will begin again..Did light play on a MCL tear during the playoffs?

Light dislocated his knee which also "got a little of the mcl" so not a full mcl tear.

At 10 wins we might already be in the playoffs, 11 wins is as close to 100% as you can get to be in.
While the #1 seed would be ideal, I think if they can just win the division, get a home game to start the playoffs, and get guys back healthy for the playoffs, big if, I'd like our chances.

Speculating like everyone else.
No question. Someone said the way they were manipulating his leg on the field suggested they suspected an ACL, thought those are often a non-contact injury, and I gather he was rolled into. The safest assumption, I think, is that it's a ligament injury of some sort, which would suggest he's done for the year. But it is all, as you say, just speculation at this point.

This seems to be a conflicting medical report from what I've read prior. I'm not sure of I can accept that an MRI is helpful to my current nightmare state which I steadfastly believe in on Hysterical Monday.

Just here to remind everyone we have 10 wins. And 10 wins is ten wins. Whether Campbelll comes back or not...the arrow is definitely pointing up for this franchise. Said it for two decades, our best chance of success starts with the offensive line. We have and are addressing that. We have a lockdown corner. We have a young QB in his second year with all the tools and intangibles. Captain obvious says lets shore up the goal line offense. A bit somber in the locker room. How they respond to the Giants....who will be another tough out...will add to the maturity and growth. Time to get back to work...and of course be thankful!

We want the #1 Conference Record: the Division Winners in the AFC are not scary at all. Love our chances at home against any of them. The Chiefs are currently on the outsides looking in but are still a very good Team. Jaguars - Chargers - Steelers - Haven't won nothing yet Lamar all make me yawn.

The silver lining is that they should both be back for the playoffs if everything we're seeing is accurate.

But to say 'they won't be gone long' is pretty ambitious. It's far more likely we're dealing with Lowe and Brown on the left side for the rest of the regular season. An MCL sprain is still a tear, and will be 4-6 weeks on the low end, and a high ankle sprain for Wilson (which is what it looked like) is around the same timeframe.

And we won't know anything for sure until the MRIs are complete.
Hopefully the backups can skate by with 2 or 3 wins against NYG, NYJ and MIA. The games against BUF and BAL will be tougher. Not having Milton Williams for those two either makes it even worse. I’m feeling like 3-2 overall is a reasonable expectation. I am not necessarily expecting the 1st seed but could certainly see Denver lose 2 more games with a tough remaining schedule so it’s a possibility.

I am: I want us in Two Playoffs Games @ Home.

I refuse to play the probable W-L game. I'm just taking it one game at a time. Every team is banged up. Every team has flaws. I trust our coaches to figure out a way to win and put it into the hands of the players to do it. I think they can beat the Bills. I think they can beat the Ravens.

I agree with all of this, and all of your posts in this thread- except for one small caveat: we still won’t know anything definite - at all. We will have a much clearer timeline of when they might be back after the MRI. Unfortunately, these are 300+ lb men with a job that requires unbelievable lower body strength and flexibility. It is hard to know how long it will take to heal so that they can function at a professional level. On the bright side, they are both very young men, and their bodies can heal at faster speeds, all other things being equal, then someone in their 30’s.
