The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

I still keep seeing talk of "Belichick to Miami" as Coach/GM following them ousting Grier, paving the way for a parting of the ways with UNC

As laughable as that is (though you KNOW Bunny would LOVE to be Princess of South Beach) perhaps Ross and UNC are engaging in some 4D chess here

Miami gets BB and Bunny in a swap with UNC getting Coach McDaniel and Tua, who never finished college and has one more year of eligibility left!

This could be a win win for everyone - and UNC could make the pitch that with the former coach and QB of the Dolphins leading the way, their players will be that much better prepared to go from the NCAA to the NFL, and perhaps back to college again!

It's a pipe dream. No team is going to accomodate a 73 year old coach especially someone who would absolutely bring 3 Rings and family and friends along to control the team.

If there was a 5% chance Bill was ever going to get another NFL job he vaporized that 5% over the last year. Torching Atlanta on the MNF Manningcast, the dingbat girlfriend, the disastrous season he's having at UNC, and hitching his wagon to idiots like Lombardi have slammed the door shut.

The Dolphins, and no other NFL team, are going after Belichick. That dream is over.

- he’s gonna be 74 next year
- he’s generating tons of negative publicity with Bunny
- his record since 2019 is bad.
- he surrounds himself with sycophants (fat Mike)

No team wants that. This is year 3 away from the NFL and he’ll be mid-70’s next season. No ones turning the franchise over to Bill and Bunny.

I think the Bunny factor is going to play heavily into his future prospects. I don't think any team wants that ****show representing them.

The sad reality is, the NFL will bring anybody in if they were convinced they would help the team win and nobody believes Belichick is going to do that anymore.

Belichick was already a hard sell two years ago when the only expectation was that he'd come in and clean house and make a play for complete control of football operations. But there was still the "what if he can bring something special here" factor. They all still passed based on his last few years here. Now even that is gone. Nobody is going to hire a 74 year old coach who is taking a "please give us some time" mantra.

It's kind of strange to think that a 74 year old man isn't mature enough to be a HC, but that is indeed a part of it.

Who would want the terrible optics of your coach's girlfriend being the same age as the NFL players you coach?

It's pretty clear that anyone doing their homework won't want to hire Bill's choice of GM, Fat Mike.

If you want someone to follow The Process you can get someone to do that for a lot less money than Boner Bill and Fat Mike charge.

I can't envision the Dolphins hiring Belichick, solely on the fact that doing so would diminish Shula's NFL record for most wins.

Their fan base would look at Ross as committing treason.

Good call.

Great point. I can imagine how that would go over with their fans.

They'll forgive him when Bill wins them a Superbowl

Very doubtful the Giants are winning a Super Bowl in the next few years. Good luck with that.
The writer has his history wrong. George Young didn’t reject Belichick for Handley. After Super Bowl 25, Belichick went straight to Cleveland and there was no reason to believe Parcells was going anywhere. It wasn’t until late spring when Parcells retired (for the first time) for “health reasons”.

The obvious replacement, Belichick, was already long gone. Handley sort of won the job by default.

Aaand another one says nah I'm good.

3-star OL at OSU will be on the bench all year, and hitting the portal next year. Interesting decision.

Better than wasting a year of eligibility getting the crap kicked out of you in Chapel Hill.
