Arguably the Game of the Week.
Two division leaders, both tied for the best record in their respective conferences.
7-2 versus 6-2.

It's too late to flex this game into Sunday night, and it won't be shifted into the late time slot.
Reason for that is that this game is on CBS, while Fox has the Week 10 doubleheader.
With it being a week with only a single game on CBS, they'll leave it on early.
Fox will stick with Rams at 49ers in the 4:30 time slot; no reason to change that game.

Buccaneers open as 2½-point home favorites, with an over/under of 48½ points.

On offense Baker Mayfield rarely throws a pick, and they rely on their passing game much more the the run game.
Similar to the Patriots, Tampa Bay's defense is very effective against opponent's runners, and more susceptible in pass defense.
They hold onto the ball better than New England does, with only five turnovers this season (second fewest in the NFL).

The Bucs are coming off a bye week, which they badly needed based on their injuries.
Tampa Bay had 17 players on the injury report and ten did not practice at one point last week.
WRs Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan are on IR and won't play, but it is possible WR Chris Godwin and RB Bucky Irving could return.

More Buccaneers insights here:

Bucs have had some injuries and I'd imagine the bye week helped a lot. Evans thankfully isn't playing he would be a major problem especially if Gonzo isn't 100%. Godwin's status is up in the air. I don't think Vea is 100% and neither is Egbuka who was making a case for OROY. Wirfs doesn't look like he's all the way back from his surgery and he admitted that.

Gonna still be a very tough game.

Huge game here, i feel pretty good about it actually. No evans and Godwin even if he plays is not himself. Hopefully we can get Gonzo locked up on egbuka. Marcus vs tez johnson is a good battle if they end up pairing, but i like our chances in that one. Not sure if bucky irving will be available but it helps our run d if not.

Itll still be atough game though, mayfield is that good and their defense could give us fits up front. Need a better day out of our ol. If boutte is out i think we’ll be better with a week to adjust than we were in the 2nd half yesterday. But need a much better day in protection.

We are doomed.

The Pats are pretenders, buoyed by a creampuff schedule. The Buc will expose us. We don't even belong on the same field as them.

Vita Vea will turn Drake Maye into Drake Maye-be. Atlanta wrote the book on how to rattle Maye, TB will repeat it. Vea will shred our IOL like tissue paper.

Emeka Egbuka will remind us why we should have taken JSN - the steal of the 2023 draft - over Christian Gonzalez. We need an elite WR to stand a chance.

After TB gets done with us, we will be lucky to get by the Jets on TNF.

We're doomed!

Did I miss anything?

Should be a tough game with Tampa Bay off a bye and it's in the heat. This will be another good test for NE.

Eh next Sundays forecast is for 85 degrees with little sun due to cloud cover. Things can change a week out but thats nowhere near as bad as Miami or Tampa in early September.
It's a big difference from 45.

I will be very impressed if they win this game. In fact, their schedule gets pretty easy after that. Home against the Bills and at Ravens will be their last tough games.

No doubt but it won't be hell on earth. Sure warmer and it will have some affect one would assume, but if there is cloud cover that help immensely.
It's expected to get warmer next week, but this past week or two the weather has been great, almost perfect.
Not beach weather, cool enough at times to close the windows here, no humidity, slight breeze.
Bottom line is the weather should not be an issue for the Patriots.

Actually one of the more porous defenses we've faced in the last few weeks. Expecting Maye to have a pretty good game, maybe even crack 300 yards finally.

The key is whether we can shore up our ball security.

I like Henderson catching out of the backfield in this game.

Should be a really good game, but probably shouldn't let them win the first quarter, or it'll be harder than it has to be.

My work colleague is a Bucs fan, this is how he rates them.

Front 7 are really strong, with a good rotation. Hard to run on, especially up the middle, and they get after the QB. Can be susceptible to screens. DB's are a mixed bag. Talented but inconsistent, and prone to giving up cheap penalties.

Offensively they are much better off script. A lot of their big plays come when they're in scramble mode, a lot of YAC. Baker doesn't get flustered, which is just as well because their O Line is shaky. Run game is good. Baker can throw deep but they don't get much separation deep and tend to attack the more intermediate routes. There's days where things don't click immediately and they just seem to get frustrated easily.

Good one Mayo.

Its nuts that the Patriots only have 2 losses and I never thought I'd be questioning the defense more than the offense at this point, but here we are. A team that throws the ball well is a team that is set up to take advantage of a patriots weakness. This is a benchmark game and I am excited to see how it turns out.
