A win is a win, there are no style points in the NFL..
A lot of bumps in the road today, but at the end of the day nothing else matters except this W.

QBs this year against Atlanta's pass defense:

Mayfield: 17-32 (53.1%), 167 yds, 5.2 y/a, 3 td, 0 int, 99.3 rating
McCarthy: 11-21 (53.4%), 158 yds, 7.5 y/a, 0 td, 2 int, 37.5 rating
Young: 16-24 (66.7%), 121 yds, 5.0 y/a, 0 td, 0 int, 78.6 rating
Mariota: 16-27 (59.3%), 156 yds, 5.8 y/a, 2 td, 1 int, 84.8 rating
Allen: 15-26 (57.7%), 180 yds, 6.9 y/a, 2 td, 2 int, 72.6 rating
Mac Jones: 17-26 (65.4%), 152 yds, 5.8 y/a, 0 td, 1 int, 64.9 rating
Tua: 20-26 (76.9%), 205 yds, 7.9 y/a, 4 td, 0 int, 138.6 rating
Maye: 19-29 (65.6%), 259 yds, 8.9 y/a, 2 td, 1 int, 102.5 rating

So really, given the caliber of pass defense they played against today (one of the very best in the NFL), Maye did just fine.
Statistically THE best.
Coming into today, they were giving up 149 yds a game, 20 less than the next best team.

Just on the long developing plays and Maye taking too many sacks. Chism would help that, but how do you take out Diggs or Pop. I don't want Maye to give up on the deep ball, but a bit more dink and dunk would slow down the pass rush.
Given Atlanta's Cover-3 predilection isn't that supposed to take away "quick hitters" especially in the middle of the field? The counter is the mid and deeper routes with a heavy dose of check downs. (James White says hello).

Just looked at the AFC standings and noted the Pats are tied for the Division lead with the Colts & Broncos! I then asked my wife to please call for the paramedics!!

#1 in yards and y/a against that D. He is flipping 23 years old. All QBs have halves, games etc where they struggle. Without the strip sack, it probably was a cakewalk.

The Patriots are NOT a few years away. Why do people keep saying that??? We are 7-2. Not saying we will emphatically win the SB this year, but we can beat any team on any week if we play our best; including KC & PHI. We are literally a few PIECES away from SB contention. Pass rusher, safety, OG upgrade & maybe depth at RB. It’s not necessarily a need at the moment (barring Boutte’s status) but I wouldn’t mind an addition at WR. Some here make it seem like we won’t contend until like 2028-2030. No; this isn’t the same league as it was 10-15 years ago when there were heavy hitters at QB with stacked teams (ala BAL, PIT, SEA, DEN, GB, PHI, DAL, NYG etc). It’s wide open..let’s see what happens at the trade deadline & how the season progresses, but with our young stud at QB, Vrabel, JMD, Stretch in the booth & a wide open league competition-wise, I like our chances as much as anybody this year (barring significant injuries).
I don't think people are saying a few years away anymore. I think most are still punting this year. But next year assuming they make the adds they need to they can be right in it. The main thing above all else is they need to improve the OL. I want to draft a guy... but i also want to sign a guy. I want to sign an ALL PRO/PRO BOWL guard. I don't want to screw at this position. I want a sure fix. If we need to rebuild the entire OL through the draft it will take too long. Get a solution next year. Keep drafting... but solve the problem NOW.

I don't think they need an upgrade at Safety, DE and LB. They need IMO 1 more good defensive starter... and depth on al levels. Depth can be had cheaply thankfully.

Why would most be punting this year at 7-2?

(sigh)
Look at the video. You can see the hands of everyone within earshot of the center, no one was clapping

That video cuts in way too late. I wanted to see if the RG tapped him too early.

And that clapping accusation is complete ********. Kinda hard to clap when you're in three point stance.

It's difficult to argue against this. I'll try, but still.

We were on our way to an easy win, that play changed everything, 10 point swing.

In fairness to Morris, it's probably what one of his players told him.

Morris heard it from Penix who heard it from the center who snapped the ball before his QB was ready.
Per PFT:
"Penix said, via a transcript from the Patriots. “For us, whenever I’m clapping, that means I want the ball. I knew [Neuzil] said he heard them clapping, and he thought it was my clap'

OFC if anyone bothers to watch the video they'll see it's BS. And like everything else, if/when it does happen it's still only a penalty if they call it. smdh

All thanks to Onwenu who still can't pick up a twist to save his life. The only thing Maye can be blamed for doing is trying to extend the play.
