2026 Draft: EDGE

Zion young had himself a game against auburn with 2 sacks but he could have had a couple more. He looked good.
If we're looking for a day two EDGE, he's a real contendor. He's no slouch against the run too.

So just started looking at pass rushers a bit. Guys who have upside, could slip are injured maybe and it could drag them down. Of course Anto Saka goes to the top of that list. He is really one of those do it all guys. Great speed, great power, good size. His main issues to me are he lacks as far as pass rush moves. And while he is nasty with his finish, which is usually a good thing, i could see some of that being flagged at the NFL level. If he can up his repertoire he could certainly be a very good player. Has the size to and run blocking ability to play all 3 downs. I think his stock will only continue to rise as the process goes on. Some sites i see believe he could go into round 4... I don't think so.

Anto Saka is a top 80 player IMO... and may move higher. No way he makes it out of round 3 most likely. And he may not even make it there.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone jumps on the upside. The only issue i have with him is he is 22 now and will be 23 come the draft. So how much upside are we talking at this point. And considering his traits and size... it is kind of odd he doesn't have more production. He should have more pass rush moves by now too. Maybe the hips are a little stiff or maybe he doesn't take to coaching well?? IDK? I just noticed he won with most power and speed... not bend or setting guys up. He shouldn't be so raw at 22 and having played the same position for years.

Take a look at Vincent Anthony from Duke and Quincy Rhodes from Arkansas, please.

5 most important positions in football (no order):

1) QB - we have Maye

2) LT - Campbell has been a day 1 stud to this point

3) CB - Gonzo is a young all pro

4) WR - Diggs is giving us a respectable #1 but older

5) EDGE - Landry/Chaisson have been solid but nothing special really and there's nothing behind them

At WR we have good depth of bodies so unless it's like a top, top of the depth chart caliber prospect it could actually be tough to fit on the roster. Another #3/#4 type gets crowded. EDGE is where we have a need for a high end player, also a need for depth pieces, and it's a premium position.

Have to play the draft board, but in an ideal world it would line up where this would be the position of our 1st rounder this year IMO.

Agreed, but unfortunately I don't see any likely EDGE options in the late 1st round worthy of the picks, at least, not right now.

Agree 100%. At the same time we shouldn't reach for one. This isn't as good an EDGE class as last year. I would rather have Sonny Styles with Jamie Collins like athleticism than an average EDGE.

I also wouldn't discount an Interior OL. The biggest weakness on this team right now is the run game and improving that takes a lot of pressure off Drake Maye.

Dane Brugler on Zion Young.

He had him ranked in his top 50 pre-season - says "he absolutely has taken the next step"

The host of the podcast also talked about the viral video from the Mizzou-Auburn game where Zion Young was super amped up at the overtime coin toss almost to the point of WTF! but Young justified it 2 plays later by getting a sack that stalled the Auburn drive.

Todd McShay also talked about that on his podcast, around the 47:00 mark. Called Young "violent" repeatedly.

I hear they discourage that in Foxboro.

Apparently Bailey can pressure the media, too:

Personally, I think a little bit of psycho in an EDGE rusher (Bailey, Young) is not a bad thing, so long as they can channel their aggression.

It's hard not to like Quincy Rhodes. Excellent length and size and such a smooth mover. Short 2025 highlights.

He's definitely one to watch. Moves really well for a big man.
