NFL Trade Deadline Discourse

Charbonnet has been garbage, they aren't trading Walker.
Seattle is a good team that's going to the playoffs, they aren't trading their starting RB.

Probably not. Worth a conversation.

If White is viewed as a traceable asset elsewhere in the league, I'd dangle him. He clearly doesn't fit into the Pats' right now, and could benefit from a change of scenery.

White to Seattle for Woolen or Philly for Ringo would add dome CB depth.

Maybe a team could pry loose a RB. White hasn't produced much, but he's on a rookie contract through 2026 and has talent. RBs aren't as valued as EDGE players.

All longshot ideas, worth kicking around.

I mean, go get me Budda Baker. That's the type of trade that makes sense to me.

I'm fine with anything that makes sense, but I am completely fed up with the pipe dream ********. How about Keion White and a 2027 6th round pick for Juatin Jefferson? Vrabes met him at the Senior Bowl and loves him, and Stretch named his cat after him.

Someone mentioned Tyler Allgeier last week.

As much as it pains me, I have come to the realization that White is all bark and no bite, and him moving on might just be the best thing for everyone.
I do not want Ringoo however, he has been really bad.

I loved the White pick, thought he would be a stud. Hasn't developed. Time to move on.

Me too, was sure he was going to be a player.
ugh..

Trey Hendrickson makes a ton of sense for us, IMO. CIN is going nowhere and he's on an expiring deal essentially with that void year. They gave him a big one year bump but $13M of that was paid already in signing bonus. His salary is $16M of which about half would be paid by the time he actually gets traded.

Right now Maye is playing at an elite level or at least damn near close to it.

Campbell has been a day 1 stud at LT.

Diggs' injury recovery has been nothing short of ridiculous. He's playing like an actually credible #1 WR.

Milton Williams has not only lived up to his contract, but he's showing that hunger to even keep improving after getting paid. Barmore looks back to form even if sack total isn't there yet. We have a great inside pass rush duo.

Gonzo and Davis is an elite outside CB duo and Marcus Jones is playing well in the slot.

Those are 5 of the 6 most important positions in football - QB, LT, WR, DT, CB. The 6th position (and it probably ranks 2nd or 3rd) is edge rusher. Landry/Chaisson are giving us good snaps, but I still think there's plenty of room for more. Add Hendrickson, and they can legitimately say they have a prob bowl/all pro type of talent at each of the 6 most important positions in football. (Maye, Campbell, Diggs, Gonzo, Williams/Barmore, Hendrickson). That's MASSIVE.

And tbh, they should definitely look for a WR too. I get some people love Douglas but he hasn't consistently been an NFL caliber #3 WR - he's more at the #4/package player level. Kyle Williams doesn't look ready. Hollins shouldn't be relied on for offense outside of blocking packages. It's getting by, but a guy like Olave would make a ton of sense.

Are either of these in the ballpark...

1) Hendrickson for Keion White and our 2nd this year

2) Olave for Pop Douglas and a 4th this year (we have our own and KC's)

Maybe add some 2027 picks as needed

Ooooooooooh baby if they made those two trades though and stayed healthy. I think they'd be legit contenders for so long as Maye stays playing at this level. If he has some "playoff rookie" moments that knocks them back, but this puts them in position to contend for how 3 remaining rookie years at least IMO.

Agree with you that the league is wide open.

Don't agree about the second part. Our window is just opening, we need to build for the next 10 years. Dynasty III. Over-paying for over the hill vets and throwing away cap space and draft picks is a great way to blow that opportunity.

You can’t build for 10 years anymore. That’s a recipe to never get over the hump. The cap growth has way outpaced player salary growth and the rampant use of void years means at any given time there are a few teams that stack the deck and are absolutely loaded. You have to pick a window and go all out in it and then do a mini rebuild after. You can’t build halfway short term and halfway long term because you’ll get clipped by one of the teams that’s all in on their short term window.

Since Brady left in 2019, which team would you rather be from 2020 to now… the Rams or the Bills. The rams went all in for a Super Bowl win and have had some leaner years making up for those moves. The Bills on the other hand never really pushed chips in and keep ending every year as a bridesmaid, never a bride.

Obviously you have to make smart moves, not just aggressive ones. But trying to build for another dynasty is obnoxiously ignorant to hard it is to win one in the NFL. We shouldn’t let the fact we were blessed to see 6 make us numb to how hard and special it is for a team to even get over the hump once. Worry about building a singular Super Bowl winning team before you start with grand ideas of another dynasty.

Bengals thought that their window was wide open after going to the Super Bowl in Burrow’s second season.

How’d that work out?

This is now a short term league, you get a top QB and then build big for a couple years then reload. The cap is outright fake. Thats how it goes now.

Problem is that that is expensive as hell in real cash dollars though so I doubt Kraft does it. Instead I expect John Henry “sustainability” bullshi.t

Who cares how we do it…just win.

I thought Woolen was doing well. What happened?

Not sure of his contract situation, but Titans CB L’Jarius Sneed wouldn’t be too shabby. He was a top 3-5 CB during his tenure in KC.

On quick read, he was terrible in 5 games last year and then got hurt and grades as the 114th CB on PFF this year. His salary this year is $18M so we’d assume half of that or so, depending on exact timing of a trade. $7.5M of guaranteed salary next year too.

Doesn’t seem like a good move. Unless PFF is like absolutely off the rails wrong about him (I’ll admit I haven’t watched him in TEN myself to judge) it seems like he’s fallen off a cliff and would be our 4th best CB at way too high a price tag.

I completely agree about Hendrickson, he'd be perfect for the defense, total game changer. 2nd + White is exactly what I was thinking as well.

If you can get Olave for that price I'd do it but I think he'd cost more. Don't see why they'd downgrade talent for just a 4th. I'm happy with our WR's, only guy i'd really go after is AJ Brown.

Would also be happy with a trade for a FS, LB, or CB depth but not sure who would be available and make sense at those spots.
