Don't know if this has already been posted as I have not been here often lately, but AFAIK this is the first time I've seen a HC refer to a sportswriter specifically by their analytical skills.

As an aside, we should feel lucky that this franchise has writers with elite knowledge of the game, like Kyles and Evan Lazar, et al.

This is a far cry from the dark days of Bob Cryin and Dan Shanknancy, two people who knew absolutely nothing about football but were unbearably smug and condescending.

BSM is in probably the worst position they could ever be in. Vrabel KNOWS all these people. He knows who's reporting and who's muckraking. It's no surprise he's giving Guregian, Reiss and Kyles anything they want, and freezing out everyone else.

I think Vrabel has set a really good tone with the media. He answers their questions in a straightforward manner, has a sense of humor, but made it clear early on that stupid or redundant questions would be ridiculed. The end result is better press conferences than those endured with Belichick.

That's not the first time he's done that. It's happened repeatedly, which is terrific and well-deserved. Taylor is absolutely outstanding, and he also asks incredibly insightful and interesting questions, which always gets some sort of smile/reaction as Vrabel then goes in-depth on whatever X's / O's thing that he's being asked about. There have been several things that Vrabel wouldn't have given us insight on had it not been for Kyles coming up with those questions. And Vrabel has clearly taken notice of him.

Someone making a living as a sportswriter not just ignoring something that fundamental but being proud of their own unwillingness to do the work required for their job told me all I ever needed to know about their lack of professionalism and personal integrity.

Funny thing is, a lot of these media members under the age of 50 aren’t sure what’s it’s like to actually have healthy communication with a Patriots head coach. Old heads at least got to have fun with Parcells/Carroll, and so on..

All-22 has been around as long as football has, but to be fair it was first on film which would be really hard to get or borrow, but then came Betamax and eventually VHS.

It never occured to either of those ****bags that people could really be into football beyond wanting to know the score, or the latest drama. Shanknancy and Bob Cryin were baseball writers who hated covering football.

I’m listening to their latest podcast, and Perillo went off on a caller. After the call, Perillo said Patriots fans are insufferable. He’s hard to listen to. Needs to lighten up.

I've been preaching for years: ask about the X's/O's, show you care as a reporter. Unreal how few sports journalists get the idea. I understand you're probably told to ask a few specific Q's when you're in the big leagues but by all means, it is the question that makes a reporter a reporter. A good question will always get a good answer, even from the tightest of lips.

Clearly I'm not bitter about not being able to afford a career in journalism, nah I'm good yup all good I'm happy.
