The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

IDIOT OF THE WEEK

It's UNC general manager Michael Lombardi, who authored a ridiculous letter to fans this week to try to explain why it's actually good and perfectly understandable that the Tar Heels can't stay within four touchdowns of any Power 4 team they face....Lombardi explained that it's not his fault that UNC has so many bad players and in fact it is everyone else in the world's fault. This included: Mack Brown, former UNC players, current UNC players who don't contribute, coaches from other schools who signed players UNC wanted, and UNC itself (but not Michael Lombardi) for not having enough money to sign players.

Bill is the same petty guy he's always been it's just now he isn't good at his job so people are calling it out.

He's always been petty doing needless crap like this that people attributed with winning when it was all a bunch of needless BS.

In before SBB:

They got Bill, Bunny, Fat Mike and the rest of the merry band of grifters, we got Drake Maye!!!

The funny thing is given how smart we all know Bill to be is he can't see how it's all those ass kissing cronies of his that have him cost him everything.

Not hiring competent best in class front office staff and coaches but instead hiring friends, friends kids and friends of friends who aren't even qualified is the main thing that sunk the Patriots franchise, is why he's not coaching in the NFL and why his North Carolina tenure is a disaster.

At least in the Dynasty Era, Bill walked the walk. The pettiness was accepted because it was a way to demonstrate the intense focus on football we had. Once we saw Bill mailing it in by having no feasible succession plan for Brady, putting the corpse of Cam Newton onto the field, failing to develop Mac Jones, and then trotting out the infamous MP/JJ/sons coaching staff then it all unraveled. Now, flying away to Nantucket just to chase ****y while he collects $50M and his football team is absolute garbage is just pathetic.

And IMO that is exactly why Bill could not find another NFL job. The grift train was always going to happen and everyone knew it.

Case in point: Lombardi's kid is QB coach.
"helped develop"... sounds like the kind of thing a college intern would put on his resume for his very first job. Lol

The only explanations I can come up with are:

1) Extreme cynicism: Things didn't go my way so now I'm gonna prop up the GOAT coach facade while in I reality make a mockery out of everything everyone once thought I stood for, while I make tons of money and wet my wick as often as I want

2) Dementia: He's lost his "executive function" and it's Bunny and Fat Mike that are steering the ship at a high level while Bill spews coach-speak and they all cash in

3) Parts of (1) and (2)

Anyone got any other theories that fit the data?

This is a symptom why Belichick failed late in his time here. Not that Kraft undermined him. Not that he was stuck with Mac Jones. It is because he has become a bitter petty man who puts BS like this over other things to help his team win.

The guy is screwing over his own players by not letting Patriots scouts into the UNC facilities. Now he is screwing over Drake Maye who he doesn't even know and never coached because of his petty feud with the Krafts. UNC cannot even congratulate the guy who may end up being the best player to ever have played for the school.

I think as the years go by, we are going to find out that a lot of the stuff that Robert and Jonathan got blamed for in the Belichick split wasn't so much their fault.

Report: UNC staff has been directed not to tweet Patriots-related content

With nothing about its current football program to celebrate, North Carolina could have taken a social-media victory lap last night following the biggest NFL win from former UNC quarterback Drake Maye.

The only problem? He plays for The Team That Shall Not Be Named.

Ross Martin of 247Sports.com reports this: “According to sources inside the UNC football program, it is a directive from the staff (Bill Belichick) to not tweet/retweet anything Patriots-related. That’s clearly why UNC football has not posted anything from Drake Maye’s electric primetime win over the Buffalo Bills.”

It’s no surprise. Belichick has made it clear that Patriots scouts are not welcome on campus. Belichick has justified his position by explaining that he’s not welcome in New England, even though he’s been back to the facility since he was fired after the 2023 season.

He’s bitter and salty. In all situations, he’s either the hero or a victim. And he has made the Patriots the villains in his own delusional narrative regarding a career arc that is undermining his Eight Rings legacy.

Belichick believed he’d instantly become a great college coach. While he still may possess elite skills when it comes to concocting game plans or making in-game adjustments and decisions, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have good players.

In New England, Belichick’s coaching acumen more than compensated for his various mistakes in picking players. At North Carolina, Belichick and G.M. Mike Lombardi brought in more than 70 players who, based on their performance through five games, would be better suited to FCS programs.

This past weekend was the low point for Belichick’s college football excursion. The Tar Heels were embarrassed at home by Clemson. They’ve been blown out by each of the Power Four teams they’ve played. The next day, the Patriots had their biggest win of the post-Belichick era.

Fake news. But good to see the haters out enjoying our big win. You're all frauds.

So UNC posted something within the last hour. Looks like Bill just banned their social media intern from the facilities. Lol

So we’re gonna have another round of a report of Belichick doing something incredibly selfish and embarrassing, the sycophants will call it Fake News, and then we’ll get more information that it’s actually worse than first reported. Got it.
