They get worse each season. How do they do it?

Jete fan loses it after Jete lose to Miami:

Some back story: Dan Hanzus and Marc Sessler are former NFL Media employees now hosting their own podcast. I've been watching them for over a decade now. Dan is a life-long Jete fan. He has been the kind that understands they suck but always finds some way to talk himself into giving them another chance.

Usually he takes their losses mostly with acceptance and self-deprecation, but this week he went on a rant. I've set the time stamp in the video to what I think is the spiciest bit of the rant, but you can start earlier if you want to hear the entire thing.

You can see the look of genuine shock in his podcast partner Marc's face when he goes off. He instantly knows this isn't the normal post-Jete loss rant.

EDIT: The interesting thing to me is he seems to just now be realizing the Fields/Glenn Era is a mistake and the whole thing will need a reboot, just like the Rogers/Wilson/Saleh Era, the Gaze/Darnit Era, etc. He saw a team that sucked ass against a bad Miami team, then looked at the schedule and could find no wins in it, then realized good old Woody is gonna blow the whole thing up at the end of the season yet again.

Good question. The OL, especially the tackles, are legit. But they opened the bank vault for two players, Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner.

Wilson has been a stud. Dolphins double teamed him most game. The Jets have no legit WR2 and WR3. Those two guys accounted for _eight yards_ against Miami. Against single coverage all game.

But Sauce Gardner is playing like crap. The Jets secondary is trash. The safeties are slow.

Fingers crossed that Woody never sells the team and plans to will it to his sons. If this season crashes and burns as expected the fan pressure on him to sell will be immense.

Looking back, Woody has done everything imaginable (from a clueless layman's perspective) to make the team relevant -- changing coaches, GMs, signing high-profile stars, etc. That is, everything BUT muster the patience for continuity to become established and bear results.

I agree. What I also see is a guy who thinks in a "stars and scrubs" kind of way. Signing both Gardner and Wilson to expensive long term contracts doesn't make sense when you have no QB1 this season and aren't sure you'll find one next season either. The smart thing to do would be to sell them off for draft capital so that you have the draft capital you need to not only secure a QB1 but to also the pieces around him. As mentioned above Sauce these days seems to be more name than game. He should have been traded. Wilson still has his moments but it's still questionable if he will be around if/when a rebuild starts to take hold.

Over/under Jets win 2 games this season?

They host Carolina, Cleveland, Atlanta, Miami and play at the Saints. Probably two, three or four wins on the season unless they quit altogether.

I haven't looked, so who are they losing to this week?

Dallas. But the Jete will be desperate so you never know for sure. I'm not sure what would be funnier -- the Jete going 0-5 under Mr. Bible Study or Jerry Jones imploding during a loss to them.

Yes.

Seriously, though, I'm rooting for Comedy in this one.

Comedians should be doing play-by-play and color commentary for Jete games.

Announcer: "Aaaaand, Fields is dropped for a 9-yard loss after aimlessly running around like a chicken with its head cut off!"

Commentator: "Well, Bob, that REALLY sucked. But, what else would you expect from these clowns? Hey -- something smells. Is it the team? The rotting swamp? Or those poor suckers in the stands? BWAHAHAHAHAAA!!!"
