Terrell Williams diagnosed with prostate cancer

First of all, that really sucks for him and his family. He finally broke through and became a full-on coordinator only to get cancer immediately. Rough. Hoping it was caught fairly early.

From a team perspective, the fact that this is now fully diagnosed lets them put a real plan together. They don't have to wonder if Williams will be back week-by-week; they can plan for him to be away from the team most or all of the rest of the year, and Kuhr can take the reins fully. Williams will probably be able to "advise" to some limited extent while undergoing treatment/recovering.

I wish him a speedy recovery. While all cancers are bad, from what little I know, prostate cancer is basically best case scenario if you are going to get one, no? Extremely high survival rates.

Father in law has dealt with it in his 70s with little impact and still kicking.

I would not be surprised at all if he comes back this year. Quite a bit easier to deal with prostate cancer than just about any cancer I am aware of.

This is why I frowned upon posts complaining about his weight and calling him names over it.
Let’s hope they caught it early, he’s a young man with a lot of life in front of him.

PC survivors have lots of funny stories they swap. One of mine is that after a vicious robot (NOT Robbie!) in 2010 poked 6 holes in my abdomen to excise my Gleason 7 tumors (not a good #) I ignored medical advice and went back to a cardio kickboxing class after under 4 weeks. Since I'd had zero pain or discomfort since day 1 and leaking drips of urine had 100% stopped after 2 weeks I was ready to go. After 15 minutes of making my 10cm leaps, I looked down and my shorts were visibly soaked. Class had no clue why I'd done this.

Prostate cancer is a weird one in that it depends on stage and age.

Early stage it’s VERY treatable.

And if one is older at diagnosis, they often do nothing but monitor.

More advanced cases often require removal and checking nearby lymph nodes plus possibility of radiation.

Aside, the Krafts must not do executive physicals as condition of employment.

That would have popped of they did.

Unlikely he can be DC any time soon.

Hope he gets great care, and I’m sure he will.

Obviously nobody wants cancer of any kind but I would think skin cancer would be the one you'd rather have over anything else

Could that possibly mean it's very early and wasn't there when he was hired 8 months ago?

I have very little knowledge about this sort of thing.

Testicular cancer is the most survivable, though prostate and melanoma are fairly close.

Regardless, f—k cancer even more than f—k the JEST.

My annual physicals included a manual prostate exam and PSA. At 54, my psa can back elevated and I went to a urologist. He took 12 biopsies of my prostate(not fun) and found cancer in 9 of them. We did the robotic removal of the prostate. I was back to work in 2 weeks and leak free in 5 weeks. Back to the gym for my lunchtime runs then too. Follow up annual psa tests have been negative for 18 years!. If caught early enough, this is survivable. I have heard tales that getting cancer of the prostate is a high likelihood for all men, some just younger than others.

I had my first physical in 13 years a couple years back. First thing my PCP told me dont worry Im not touching your balls today unless you explicitly feel something needs to be checked out LOL

I guess most guys avoid physicals just because of that, so its no longer a "routine" check which is kinda sad

I quoted Captain Kirk when my urologist did my biopsy. His nurse laughed. You are about to go where no man has gone before….it wasn’t the first time he had heard that….

IIRC the prostate never stops growing, albeit very slowly.

So every man who lives long enough gets prostate cancer or BPH (benign enlargement).

That's the gold standard response. 5 neighbors who chose the FAFO path and died from their PC. I am the only one alive.
The bad news is that a heavy guy like Pats DC may NOT BE A CANDIDATE for surgery because he is too fat. MAY.

If that’s the only thing he has going on healthwise, and it’s been caught early.

First of those already seems like a poor bet to me.

I think the team needs to hire an interim DC for the season. Or if they give Kuhn that job they need to backfill his previous position with a full time LB coach.
