The NFL has a rule that only individuals/families can own an NFL team. They can’t be corporations or equity funds (GB is the exception based on events which took place 100 years ago).

They have recently relaxed allowing funds to purchase minority shares because money. As of now, these equity funds may not purchase controlling shares.

Sounds like they were having problems finding wealthy enough individuals and this allowed them to sell it to groups of investors instead.

I'd be surprised if Jonathan holds onto this team after his dad's gone. He's involved in the other businesses, and I don't know how he feels or if he's as passionate about it. Obviously, it takes up a lot of time, and his dad has mentioned on more than one occasion that 'Jonathan is off handling .... ', so he's clearly got enough going on outside of it. So I sort of wonder if, given the valuation, when the time comes (heaven forbid), whether or not he'll move on.

I could see Jonathan wanting to maintain control, but maybe the other children would want to take their cut and move on. I don't think it's guaranteed that it'll stay in the Kraft family.

I do wonder if we'll get to a time where the NFL allows other teams to run like a corporation, like the way the Green Bay Packers were grandfathered in. Are teams better off with individual owners?

Jonathon has always been right at Bob's side in the booth. And he even makes appearances at smaller functions during off-season like the pre-draft parties.

I'm pretty sure based on various comments through the years that Jonathan very much will continue the legacy.

I'm also pretty sure the brothers are all on board too but that's where the things would get complicated as splitting up the fortune could require selling some shares if not the whole team if they all aren't on the same page. But it sounds like they are.

The reason The Nebbish almost never shows up at the press availabilities is that he doesn’t ever like to be questioned. He’s smart enough to know that he comes across poorly and will never get beyond The Scatback’s shadow. I’m in the camp of those that think that after the little guy croaks Jon will get rid of the team, split the proceeds with the 3 brothers, and go back to relative obscurity. We’ll miss him like we would miss a boil.

Interesting, Kraft has stated more than once that a succession plan for keeping the team in the family 'for decades' is in place
