Said this in another thread, one glaring noticeable problem with the offense is a lack of downfield speed.

Play Kyle Williams on the outside, even if it means someone else plays less.

They need to stretch the defense and force them to defend every blade of grass.
I am going to question McDaniels if our Offense take another Half off.

Absolutely agree wozzy. Williams would at the least carry coverage and get open. We need to get the running game going first though. For the life of me please beat tua!!! He's undefeated against us.

The T Henderson era as our featured RB needs to begin on Sunday. We have seen enough of Rham: we are a very slow Offense: Henderson and Williams should keep the D on their heels.

It’s all part and parcel.
Hit, or at least attempt some deeper shots to KW.
A lot easier to run the ball when the D has to respect the deep third and can’t creep ever so closer to the LOS.
I’ve been beating this same drum!

It's hard to run, it's hard for Drake Maye to take off and run if the defense can shrink the field because none of the Patriots receivers can stretch the opposition and make them cover downfield.

I think the Raiders sold out to stop the run, they knew "run the ball" was Vrabel's overriding imperative. He ran the ball in Tennessee and he wants to do it here. This seems to be why Drake was successful when he came out slinging early in the game. That being said they brought the pressure in the second half and our receivers couldn't make them rethink that.

Boutte is a good WR, but he isn't fast. None of the receivers including the TE's are fast.... Kyle Williams is fast.

Do you really think Kyle Williams is striking fear in anyone and changing philosophies?

I'm in perplexed agreement as to WTF happened with the offense in the 2nd half, but I think we're overanalyzing if we think the WRs are the problem here.

In fact let's look at the stats:

Maye found 10 different receivers - 6 of them had more than 1 catch. I know some think that's a bad thing but to me it's a GREAT thing - Defenses won't know who to defend or double team.

Or maybe fans feel that 10 is low? He should be finding 15 receivers per game? I don't know. Seems pretty good to me.

I know we need to stretch the field. Boutte averaged 17 yards on 6 catches. That's not bad. And Hunter Henry had 4 catches averaging 16 yards. Yes, I'd prefer to see their averages in the 25-30 yard range every play, but as low as 17/16 yards per play is, that's probably enough to keep Defenses honest too. Heck - even Diggs paltry 6 catches with a 10 yard average kindof helps in that "slot" category of gaining important yards.

So while I'd love to see Josh whip Maye into mid-season form by next week, finding 15 or more receivers per game for nothing less than an average of 20 yards per play, I actually see some positives to build on here!

So far he hasn't beat out Mack Hollins and you think one long reception and teams will start changing coverages. The kid needs to learn the position first.
Kw is a rookie. He will have to continue to earn reps... if Hollins struggles.. we will see Williams earlier.

All it takes is one deep completion for a team to take note. As long as it's not Dobbs throwing to him..

If he can get behind thier coverage and make a play, absolutely it can change the D, and prevent them from all shrinking toward the LOS.

There's alot of position redundancy.. Williams is the only guy that realistically can be a deep threat outside the numbers. We need more of these types of guys. However the running game will open up the offense. We need some semblance of a running game to dictate the line of scrimmage. For goodness sakes.. can we just beat tua?

According to who McDaniels?? We'll see if this is really Mike Vrabel's Team.

I felt the first half of the Raiders game the passing opened up the run. But I agree they need to run more but also run better. Every run play outside of that 4th down pitch was bland. Move the line, force the opponent to adjust, get the defense running side to side, use counters, wham blocks, tosses… enough with this vanilla dive up the middle. Josh is making this offense too easy to defend.

Speed kills, it has to be respected.
Speed guys on the Raiders Tucker and Thornton Jr. had no problems getting by our last line of Defense. Really hope McDaniels learned something from that. Not gonna lie: wasn't too happy Josh is our OC: I wanted a different Offensive mind.

IF $h!t goes sideways I bet Josh is the First to go. Josh had an embarrassing end with the the Raiders; which really bothers me. Really don't know if I want a guy like him with my Young QB; dated Offense and all. Would like an Offense in this century: this isn't Madden.
