This is not a troll thread. This is a legitimate discussion on where the Patriots stand and serves as a place to discuss their positioning as it changes weekly. As of now, everything is going ae planned.

Way too early prediction

Saints
Browns
Titans
Dolphins
Panthers
Patriots

Once again the Pats win their final game of the season, this time vs the Dolphins, pushing Miami into an earlier draft pick.

Have the faith.

Schedule dictates they aren't coming close to that first overall pick but the way they played against the Raiders doesn't have me fully convinced.

This Dolphins game really could dictacte alot of that list already.

Pats will beat Miami in week 17.
Has Mayo made a public comment since his firing? Seems he has just disappeared.

It is a shame because he was a good player for the team and will likely be a future Pats HOFer.

With our strength of schedule, I think we're more likely to win too many games than some of the ****ty teams with harder strength of schedules. If I had to pick who is going to get the first pick right now, I'd guess one of the New Jersey teams.

He was.

I doubt it. I don't think he was ever a top 5 LB when he was playing. I prefer he gets passed over for guys that have been waiting much longer who played in the 70's and 80's. It's also highly likely their is some bad blood with the team.

I guess nothing came out of his lawsuit threat. Grilled cheese sandwich was moldy. Lol

Cash was green, though.

Tommy Cutlets throws for 600 yards and 6 TDs

Well, there was the whole thing from his wife about suing the Pats. So no statement is probably better than a bitter one.

Miami looks like the team to beat after Week 1 - literally or figuratively as the case may be.

It really felt to me like he was set up to fail, and that the team's intent was to be in the running for a top draft pick that season.

It never seemed to me they were looking for the best coach - they needed a sacrificial lamb to come in after Belichick as no one could live up to the record and personae. Mayo was in a way the anti-Belichick while still having a tie to the winning tradition.

That being said, Mayo seemed to be a little too "all in" when it came to doing and saying stupid things that were undermining what had been a culture of winning. I think he'd been told he was safe for one season and then was miffed when they backtracked.

Whether or not that resulted in the win that cost us the #1 pick, who knows, but I think that would be giving Mayo too much credit/blame.

If anything I've always blamed the front office for the decision to put a guy out there who had nothing to lose and everything to gain by winning, for a game they were hoping to lose. That was likely a decision of Wolf and Kraft to sit Maye and play Milton, mistakenly thinking he gave them the best chance to lose. And one can never blame a player for going all out when they need to showcase themselves.

My $.02 in retrospect

If they lose in Miami, especially if they lose in similar fashion to how they lost here, then they might as well begin that pursuit in earnest...

Patriots willed out a win between two teams that played like ****.

The chase for the top pick is now in serious doubt.

To borrow from a friend of mine, the first pick in the draft is a poisoned chalice.

Well, the top WR’s aren’t predicted to go top 10, so if we wind up 15-20, we could still grab an explosive WR. I really want Nyck Harbor from South Carolina, just an incredible WR prospect, 6’5” 220 and runs a 4.3 (some say 4.2 !, is a track star too). He turned down going to the Olympic tryouts because he wants to put all his focus on football. I think he would be such an interesting red zone weapon. Tight End height, great speed.

He also catches like Jeff Demps, another Olympian.
