It is not uncommon for the football coach of the top state school in a state to be one of the highest paid government employees. They are paid with tax dollars. It's not something all tax payers are on board to begin with. But in this case,

Bill Belichick because of his contract being so extreme for that school is the highest paid state employee in North Carolina history. The spectacle of what is going on before the season needs to not reflect the football program itself. Because if the team is mid and Bill is bringing everyone surrounding the school bad publicity, there is an extra level of scrutiny that tax payers will be mad that their money is being pissed away on this guy and the pressure will be greater.

If Kraft pays a coach a stupid amount of money and they flop, people aren't evaluating based off wasteful government spending. It's just Kraft making a bad bet. For NC, there's a lot of eyes on the highest paid state employee in history and if he's a positive to their football program or an embarrassment to everyone.

People in this sub, especially a lot of heavily pro Belichick people have often had serious issues with the idea of a tax payer funded football stadium. Well Bill Belichick is a tax payer funded football coach. He's also got a top 5 college coach salary and he's the only one that isn't at a powerhouse (Georgia, Ohio, Clemson). So there is going to be a lot of eyeballs on this bet they made with tax payer money

You're still not explaining how any of this is Bill's fault. You should take your issues to the State Reps in NC and to the UNC President. But of course your problem isn't really with any of that you just wanted another topic to complain about Bill.

If your only reason to bring up taxes was to say the fans expect him to win then ok but we both know your motivations.

He's Bill Belichick his name alone carries expectations of winning all on its own. No need to bring up anything else. His shear greatness carries a huge weight of pressure.

I didn't bring it up, you were having a dumb back and forth not understanding the point someone else was making and I told you what he meant. And no, a state that historically does not pay that much to a football coach is going to pay extra attention to it.

The funny thing is if he was doing it for the betterment of the game or his legacy or to get his career back on track he could be taking that $1 to coach.

AFAIK he doesn't need the money, or at least he shouldn't unless he let Bunny tap him out.

According to other posters his sons could be making six figures coaching elsewhere, so that isn't the reason.

Seems it's mostly about the money, and his actions show he doesn't care if it comes from the taxpayers.
