Does it matter when they do it? now or a couple of days later its the same result. If Peppers did ask for a release that is hardly throwing a fit.

It matters to me that the coach doesn't know what he's doing.

Maybe y'all are fine with it but I'm done with the bs around here.

This should of happened Tuesday or not at all.

Yes this should have happened Tuesday. We may not know the circumstances yet.

The circumstances are the player asked and the team relinquished.

Which begs the question.

Who's in charge over there?

Luckily I can answer that question…Vrabel is in charge. And it was still a mistake to not release him on Tuesday

Unless Peppers was at the bottom of the roster and they decided they liked the Bengals D-lineman more.

This doesn’t move the needle. This team isn’t “peppers away” from a SB. I thought he was pretty good two years ago and while this was unexpected, I can’t get myself to care. We didn’t lose a Parsons here.

He's not the only guy this week Vrabel was wishy washy on.

That's concerning to me.

I've held back all off-season on the annoying **** Vrabel says because I'm waiting for the results to speak for them self but I think as we get closer to the season it's clear they are lowering expectations all around for everyone and I'm starting to think this is going to be a season closer to last year than say 2020.

Valid points. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt until we lose games we should win. He hasn’t even coached a game yet.

While Belichick did get rid of a few players from the Carroll regime, like Spires, Milloy and Woody, he did not get rid of the entire crew just because they were unsuccessful. Ty Law, Bruschi, McGinest, Faulk, to name 4, were still around.

Not sure I buy this idea that Vrabel is cutting the players who have been around 2 years of losing.

It has to be scheme fit.
Law Bruschi and McGinest are not the same as Peppers, Bentley and Dugger.

I would argue that Gonzo, Spillane and Landry are talented.

The Bourne situation was weird. It’s not surprising that he was released but it came after they initially kept him and Vrabel phrased it as a “breakup”. Bourne is not a malcontent. He stayed positive even when benched in the past. For some odd reason he likes being here. He is not the type of guy I’d think would be leaving on such terms.

And the other side of the coin is Dugger. Shoving him to the very bottom of the depth chart during the offseason and then keeping him at the last minute after jerking him around in the past months.

That and he has had veiled commentary related to Diggs and Gonzo more recently.

For me Jabril Peppers is in the same realm as Milloy and Harrison as far as my fondness of the player, not their ability before all you freaks tell me there not the same.

You know what? At this point I'm giving Vrabel the benefit of the doubt. This team has been handicapped by an inability to move on from any remnants of the old regime and dynasty and Vrabel if he's going to succeed should be able to construct this team how he wants and he clearly has no problem cleaning house. If this is ever going to work with him as HC, he kinda has to have the benefit of the doubt on this.

Rodney will always be my Fav player. All 3 have that attitude.

I don't see why it was?

How many players were claimed???

I don't think Vrabel is enamored with any of them.

Vrabel didn’t phrase it as a breakup. He used it as an analogy to a question that was asked. He was saying that the Patriots cut Bourne (and Epps), and their agents saying afterwards that they requested their releases was the equivalent of a girl saying I’m breaking up with you, and the guy responding oh yeah, well I’m breaking up with you. He’s saying the Patriots cut them because of performance, no matter how they might spin it.

Understandable but also he has inherited a pretty bare roster as it was and worsened the depth. That would be all well and fine if he was coming in with low expectations.

People out there are thinking this team better win at least 8-9 games. What if it’s only 6? The heat will be turned up pretty quickly.

What what was? He was released after the due date preventing the team from acquiring a player that can help the team today and not in the past with an invalid scheme fit? It was a mistake to wait.

If we're being honest, he is coming in with low expectations. This team hasn't been competitive in 5 seasons, they are coming off back to back 4 win seasons, they jettisoned their supposed QB of the future a little over a year ago, they fired Belichick and then fired his replacement after a season.

At this point, I see no scenario where Kraft would even consider firing Vrabel without at least 3 seasons unless we go sub 3 wins in the next two seasons in a Hue Jackson style implosion. He kinda has the leeway to do whatever the hell he wants for a while and make it his own.
