8 wide receivers? why?

3 running back? again, why?

some of this doesn't make all that much sense

It does.

They are rebuilding. Why not keep the most talent you can, rather than forcing in a JAG?

You saw the last preseason game. The roster talent is thin. And there are still more moves that will be made.

This makes Bourne not being IR-DTR an even bigger head scratcher.
Unless he’s actually not hurt anymore, which may be possible. He would have rightly been upset if placed on IR while healthy enough to play now. Who knows at this point?

It doesn't to me...

How many of those 8 wr's are going to get snaps?
RB's room needs more depth... that could be added on the ww...

They could have kept an extra lineman or two... and extra defensive back or defensive lineman... positions that need depth for rotational play...

Sure it does. It makes plenty of sense. Especially when you put it into the perspective of the roster not be FINAL. This isn't like 20 years ago where there was very little movement after cut-downs. Especially for a rebuilding team like the Pats.

They already told Terrell Jennings they want to bring him back.

If they want to get Baker to the PS, they wait until tomorrow and then cut him to off-set a waiver claim when other teams have already finalized their PS. Makes it much more likely for him to go unclaimed.

With Stevenson and Henderson, you have two workhorse RBs.. I would expect both to get 20-25 touches a game and Gibson to be fighting to get 5-10. You put 2 RBs on the PS to develop and you can bring them up either as a game day promotion or as a IR option during the season.

Westover's position is definitely not secure. Wouldn't be surprised to seem him cut.

Wouldn't be surprised at if they cut Austin in favor of that CB from the Giants that people were talking about.

Pats fans: “Will Campbell’s arms are too short!!”

Also Pats fans: “Oh my Gawddd, a 5’8 center shaped like a bowling ball!”

Last I knew he was a guard, but I wouldn’t sign him as a guard, I would sign him as a fullback. I can’t remember the DLineman’s name, ( it was Deone Walker) but he was the biggest DL in the last draft, at 6’6 360, and Lampkin was stoning him at an all star game. He played with Maye at UNC.

He hasn’t practice for a month. Missed almost all training camp. He isn’t playing before week 3 at the minimum in my opinion and i don’t think he is in front of Diggs, Pop, Boutte, Williams and Hollins on the depth chart.

So he will be what a healthy scratch?

They kept 6 DL.
They kept 5 CB and 6 safeties if you count Schooler. 7 safeties if you count Mapu.

Why would you keep extra OL if they aren't as good as the WR you have? Help me comprehend that train of thought.

sure doesn't...

it does remain to be seen what happens with the waiver wire transactions, if any of these guys are claimed or just sign elsewhere

sounds like they are keeping guys like Bourne in the hopes they can swing a trade...

And this will be all addressed on the practice squad because how many of our cut RB's/DB/DL will be claimed? Or will we really care if they're claimed?

You can rotate these players in now almost whenever you wish.

Other than Baker, who they kept not as a WR, the WR's on the roster would be risks to be lost if cut.

Yeah. Maybe.. But if he was healthy enough, why wasn't he at practice yesterday the way Chism was..

I mean. I guess the clearance could have come today. *shrug*

Mike Vrabel and Ryan Cowden just took off their masks, and revealed themselves to be @Love The Drake and @PatsFan2 in disguise.

I suspect that if there are two going to IR DTR that news may not have gotten out yet, if Vrabel found the rat.

When I first looked at the updated roster, I missed F-ton on the list and was ready to loose my ****.

Surprised Mapu isn't a cut. I assume he's a heavy special teamer.
Mapu is a special teamed replacing Tavai for now

Just a thought about waiver wire claims typically when you claim one you cut someone from the same position.

Obviously in our case we might balance the WR numbers instead.

Versus 2nd rounder TJ Sanders.

Isn't that obvious to balance depth against Injuries at all spots.

Pretty easy to deal with that via the practice squad and via trade. I like that they kept Bourne in that room for now. The more curious roster move was keeping three Tight Ends, if Westover really made the team. There are some very interesting veteran OL on the list of cuts from other teams. That's the position on offense that needs one more backup. I wonder if Cole Strange comes back if he clears waivers.
