Patriots Player Departure OFFICIAL 2025 Patriots roster cutdown day discussion / tracker

My guesses on remaining moves:

CUT: Gee Scott Jr, Javon Baker, Jeremiah Webb, Jack Conley, Cole Strange, Jahvaree Ritzie, Dell Pettus
IR: Ja'Lynn Polk
Cutdown day IR-DTR: Jahlani Tavai, Kobee Minor

After 24 hours, they'll send Kendrick Bourne and Terrell Jennings to regular IR-DTR to make room for waiver claims.
Why put Minor on IR DTR?

He would have to go to the 53 when he comes off. He's not ready for that, and won’t be more developed by being on IR. It’s a waste of that spot.

Less than 1 hour to go. Strange, Lowe, Polk Mapu Tavai and Baker still on the roster for now

It means they'll be carrying 6 DE/OLB if Anfernee Jennings stays (I'm assuming Swinson sticks).
Yea looks that way.

Agree on Swinson. He did enough to stay on the roster to develop. With his youth and size I think he'd be picked up if released.

I would say Ponder for now nice story: but I don't think he's that coveted around the league.
Possibly but is it worth the risk? He might have jumped Swinson and Jennings anyway as DE4.

My guess is it'll be 1-2 players, tops.

Remember when Belichick claimed two WRs at cutdowns? One, Chad Hansen, didn't play a game and was waived about two weeks later. The other, Amara Darboh, failed his physical. And to make room for these wastes of space, Belichick put Ryan Izzo on season-ending IR.

A marginal upgrade in talent may not be worth the loss of time learning the system. A clear upgrade in talent, however, would be.
I understand where you’re coming from, but that roster had a lot more talent than ours overall (2018), and that was the WR position, with the Pats system one of the most notorious to learn in the NFL.

This year, we don’t have as much depth although our front line talent looks improved. And WR is likely one of the few positions they aren’t looking for. I bet some of these guys could be more plug and play, like if we grabbed a better CB6 or RB4.
