The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

If only Bill was as dedicated to doing things that would protect his legacy as you are to defending him, then this thread would have died a long time ago. But, no, he dives into scandal after scandal and clearly doesn't give a damn any more. That's where things are, like it or not.
Lol scandal after scandal huh? Other than Hudson what would you even call the second scandal to make it one after the other? And it's not like we are talking Epstein here. A little salacious maybe but dating a 25 year old isn't exactly a scandal.

The only people who claim his legacy has been destroyed are haters like you and page six type writers.

Factually incorrect we didn't even know who Hudson was last year when the hiring cycle passed on him. And he chose UNC before this years cycle.

What matters is what NFL teams doing due-diligence would find out.

Turns out all they had to do was look at Instagram.

Belichick and Hudson were spotted together on multiple occasions in 2023, with fans sharing photos of them on social media. That January, the duo were seen walking through the French Quarter in New Orleans. They returned to the city later that same year and appeared to be enjoying a dinner date.

Bill interviewed with ATL in January 2024:

You don't think ATL did a social media scan, when it is something almost every hiring business does this as a part of the hiring process?

We don't know all the details as to which teams Bill was interested in last year other than ATL and only a few of them had openings but that doesn't stop you from misrepresenting that 32 teams turned him down.

You keep claiming he is the Greatest coach of all time and won't admit he lost his fastball. If this was really the case, teams would make an opening for him. None did.

You're not interested in holding a factual debate so stop pretending you are. You're just hating plain and simple.

You can't refute the argument. All you have is name calling.

Maybe Kraft was pissed off at all the sniping from Bill and lack of gratitude for making him a very rich man
They all got rich off each other and off the backs of NFL greats that proceeded them simple as that. Kraft didn't give him anything he didn't earn. And they all should be grateful for each other I much prefer the way Bill and Brady are with each other than the way Kraft and Bill are. I just hope it cools off a lot quicker than it took in Dallas as our guys are a little older and don't necessarily have as much time.

The answer to that is, they did. It didn’t have to be that way, but Belichick was so disrespectful, and such an ******* to their greatest players that they wanted out, left, and finished their careers elsewhere. He could have been a tough coach and a shrewd negotiator without being a ****, but he just couldn’t help himself. Players like Seymour, Mankins, Law, Brady, Gronk , Edelman, and Wilfork gave their all to this franchise, and deserved better than the way they were treated by Bill.
Some coaches are ****s and aholes to players. Again, who cares? Roger Staubach hated Tom Landry. Terry Bradshaw hated Chuck Noll. Joe Montana hated Bill Walsh. See a trend here? BB was old school. He didn't give two ****s about feelings. He cared about getting every last ounce of production out of a player and it worked until it didn't. In that process we as fans benefited more than anyone who ever was a fan of an NFL team.

Except for JE11 all of those players where the highest paid at their position at one point in time. How is that disrespect? What are you defining it as?

You want to go to celebrity gossip sights as some sort of factual evidence so I should just rest my case right there.

He looks like he still has a fastball here and knows every bit as much about football as he ever has.

Facts are stubborn things, no matter where they come from.

Then why didn't any NFL team make an opening for the Greatest coach of all time?

If you took a poll 10 years ago asking who the greatest coach in the game is and the greatest QB in the game, the vast majority would say Belichick as coach and Brady as QB.

If you took a poll today asking who the greatest coach in the game is and the greatest QB in the game, the vast majority would say Andy Reid as coach and Patrick Mahomes as QB.

It is an amazing coincidence how great head coaches have great QBs on their teams.
True, but it goes both ways. How many great all time winning QBs didn’t have great coaches and organizations? I would argue that is what made them great QBs. Even if one believes BB had little influence on making TB the GOAT (something I absolutely don’t believe), consider the other great winning QBs, e.g., Montana (then Steve Young) under Bill Walsh. And I would argue that Andy Reid is the perfect example of the importance of the coach, even before he won all the Rings with Mahomes at KC, Reid had the reputation of being a QB whisperer who could make chicken salad out of chickens**t, turning talented but flawed QBs like Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb and even Michael Vick into MVP level QBs. I simply don’t believe that great coaches don’t help to mold great QBs.

Here's the thing though you can go look through the Brady forum you won't find me taking this same stance while Bill was still here I mostly stayed out of it and let you guys vent and debate back and forth about the Bill vs Brady debate. I had no interest in at the time and I was happy to stay in the main forum.

But since Bill was fired it's completely different. I obviously have my opinions on if that was the right choice and countless other things that were discussed in the aftermath but at some point it crossed the line from a healthy debate to just kicking a man while he's down and I'm not required to just stand by and watch that. So you're damn right I'm kicking back and I don't really care if there is some friendly fire in the way because you guys have pushed into the fanatical part of being a fan.
My main issue with Bill now is that he is tarnishing his legacy a bit with all of this nonsense off the field. The pettiness with Kraft (which Kraft deserves just as much blame). Spending an entire year on any TV show or podcast that would have him on to air any sort of grievance he had for whatever reason after years of crapping all over the media. And now this whole fiasco with his girlfriend that is young enough to be his granddaughter.

What is the evidence to support that conjecture?

To me there is plenty of reasons why an owner would want to put some checks and balances around late-period BB.

We don't need owner's ego to support that move, IMO.
Evidence… you want Bob’s mugshot or arrest record?

Did you forget this ^ happened, are you suffering from dementia as well?

Wozzy arguing 101.
Step 1: Reply with something that has nothing to do with the quoted post.
Step 2: Claim it as evidence for your case.
Step 3: Name calling.
Step 4: Repeat

You're right some gossip sight shows they were together in 2023 so that makes it a fact that ATL backed out because of Hudson.

I don't why Bill couldn't find an NFL job to his liking but there's more to that answer than 32 teams didn't want him. We don't know how many of those 32 he wanted. From what I recall he turned down Khan not the other way around. And despite whatever rumors there were he was ever going to NYJ just as a few examples so that's at least 30. My opinion is he probably wasn't going to venture very far from the East Coast so that took a lot of teams off the table. There were probably one or 2 West Coast teams run well enough that he'd consider them but I doubt many were on his radar. Again just my opinion but it's not like we have a check list of 32 teams and why they may or may not have been interested in Bill.

Problem is you guys make up your own facts based on whatever minute information you find then prop that up as evidence of some fact that really is still completely unproven.

Behavior one might expect from a hater not someone who still considers themselves still to be a little fan.

Hey maybe I'm wrong maybe you are still a little fan of his but you certainly spend an awful lot of time crapping on him, searching the web for gossip like a teenage girl, and aligning yourself with the opinions of board members who aren't even trying to hide their hate.

So you deny and dismiss any of the reports on Bill's personal life as gossip and conjecture but make a ridiculous leap like this?

I think you spend too much time reading the gossip and the haters on here. Because his legacy is just fine. If you watched him on those shows and appearances you would see someone who was greatly respected by everyone he was on air with and he did not use his platform to air grievances. The very few grievances he did air were not on his shows. Mostly they were things that Lombardi or someone else said and people just like to act like that means it automatically came from Bill.

My recall is that the very few grievances he has let slip out came in interviews after he took the job at UNC and not during his year on TV. And really up until this pretty clear jab about 'owners sons' he has said very little negative.

Yup I shrug off something that pretends to be facts that comes from a celebrity gossip sight. And I really didn't deny the gossip just that it was the reason an NFL team wasn't interested in him.

I stated several times that what I wrote was an opinion and was just a counter to him saying 32 teams turned him down like it was some sort of fact. You don't have to accept my opinion but I think you are capable of reading what I wrote and recognize that it's unlikely 32 teams turned him down and that he didn't turn a few of them down and that some of those 32 never even considered it because they like their own coach.

Not really sure what makes what I said rediculous. You don't think it's realistic to think he for whatever reasons had some teams he was never going to.

If he took college job at a second rate program I find it hard to believe he would have turned down any NFL job.

Bull. That’s revisionist history. Before Mahomes, Reid was seen as a loser HC who had probably the worst time management skills in the entire NFL. He was viewed as a guy who wasted the talent he had and couldn’t win the big game.

That was 100% the narrative around Reid until Mahomes.

You’re a moron if you don’t think he would have taken any NFL job if offered. He even humiliated himself and got on bended knee to beg the hated Jets for a job.

Nobody - NOBODY - goes to UNC if they have NFL offers.

He had won a SB while in GB and helped take them to a second one. Then he took the eagles to Superbowl. Some people may have viewed him as someone who wasted talent but he has clearly gone on to prove them wrong in a big way.
