One of the easiest schedules I have ever seen and they still missed the playoffs with the same team that went 16-0 the year before minus the GOAT QB. Funny how that works...
11 wins in 2008 is the same amount of games won in 2001 and 2018… it’s a team game.

Stop fangirling…

They beat good teams in 2001 and 2018. They couldn’t do that in 2008. Gee I wonder why.

The Pats actually went went 2-4 against teams .500 and and above in 2001. 2 of those wins were against division opponents.

In 2008, they went 4-5 against teams .500 and above. The reason why they didn’t make the playoffs was because there was 6 teams with at least 11 wins in the AFC compared to only 3 in 2001.

I read somewhere they went 1-4 against the AFC playoff field that year. 3 of those 4 losses were blowouts. Makes it very difficult to make the playoffs…

It must be an interesting life always looking for ways to distort reality to fit the way you want to view things.

Correction: they were 4-5 in 2008 and they were 1-4 against AFC playoff teams (in bold).

1-0: Beat the Jets 19-10
1-1: Blown out against Dolphins 38-13
1-2: Blown out by SD 30-10.

2-2: Blew out Denver 41-7
2-3: Lost a close game to Indy they could've won 18-15.
2-4: Lost to the Jets after that comeback 34-31.
3-4: Repaid the favor to Miami 48-28.
3-5: Lost to Pittsburgh in a turnover fest in the rain 33-10.

4-5: Blew out Arizona in the snow.

Despite some lopsided losses, they missed the playoffs because 2008 was a fluke year with way too many teams with over 11 wins.

Yes the 4 losses were Miami, SD, Pitt, Ind. @Miami was their only win from the conference vs a playoff team. They were playing good football though late in the season.

I think they would've made noise had they Jets done their job and knocked out Miami. However, I think they would've hosted the dreaded Ravens in the Wild Card.

I just looked at the AFC passed 2008 and the average was around 4 teams with at least 11 wins per year. The only abnormal year was 2020 with 7 teams with at least 11 wins. Some years only had 2-3.

He has to run himself in circles to make 11 wins seem like a negative.
