He’s out for a week, but he’s still really dangerous when you get the ball in his hands.

What I love about it is how a front office can spend up to 2 years evaluating prospects to gauge how they will perform as pro’s, then take guys like Richardson and Trey Lance based purely on the fact that they are great athletes when they don’t have anything close to the quarterback skills needed to make it in the NFL. What a waste of a pick.
Josh Allen was pretty raw and was drafted for his physical tools upside.

Absolutely. And he’s one of the few Quarterbacks who was wildly inaccurate in college but went on to become a great passer in the Pro’s. And the difference is that he had a substantial college career, whereas Lance and Richardson didn’t.

When I did my big college QB analysis before the Drake Maye draft Allen was the 1 guy that blew all the data out of the water. All his advanced data points said he's too inaccurate to succeed. He's the only guy I found to overcome that.

I did read an article at the time where covid may have saved Allen's career. Otherwise, He may have washed out like the others. It took a special situation for Allen to totally change his lower body mechanics to improve accuracy. He couldn't go anywhere so spent a ton of time fixing the fact he was a large strider and had to shorten his stride when he threw. Before that he was all arm. Of course, still have not found any QB that could fix upper body mechanics to become an accurate thrower. Of course, you can become better with improved upper body mechanics, but you can't go from bad to good. Lucky for Allen his issue was lower body mechanics, easier to fix.

He's a major outlier as generally bad accuracy is hard to fix. Justin Fields, Richardson, Milton, Lance etc...

I also found this article, different than the one I read at the time, which I can't find now, which had quotes from Allen but this one still talks about the changes during covid.

Palmer is a bit hesitant to talk about the other aspect he thinks spurred Allen's progress this year, because he doesn't want it to come across as callous, but there is no doubt in his mind that the COVID-19 travel restrictions forced his clients (Allen among them) to live in a football bubble they'll never experience again.

What?? Didn't he sign Big contract with the Jags last year??
