This, and it's not like Maye has been bad. He's had his ups and downs while learning a new system, and based on practice reports there have been more ups than downs.

He was excellent in the practices leading up to the game, played a few snaps, had the bad fumble, and then had a relatively down practice.

Let's see how he does in the upcoming joint practice and the following game in which he should have more snaps.
Agree. But we want to see Maye step up.

Duggers contract makes him hard to trade. How much do we have to eat? What do we get back? Also just cause he is ahead of Duggers in practice at times doesn't mean he is in game action. They have gone back and forth.

Duggers has 23M in dead cap. And after last year no one will want to pay him that much. So we get stuck with it. And what kind of pick do we even get? It isn't like his new contract will be cheap either... just not as bad. Maybe if we are lucky we eat 23M and get a 4th round pick.

So 4th round pick, eat 23M and lose a quality player. Or keep him. I think we keep him unless some team is willing to really extend something good. I don't think they will.

If they have to eat the 23 million then he isn’t going anywhere until next year, and as a second round pick a 4th is the best they can do for him, unless he really turns it around this year.

This is why good drafting is essential. You can tolerate a dud or 2 if you are also finding diamonds. Makes our incredible run drafting low all the more impressive.

I think those must be fake arms he straps on.

Polk is not making the trip to Minnesota, just cut him or IR. No need to stay any longer giving him hopes.

OT but here’s forum favourite Willie Lampkin pancaking 4 guys in week 1. If there’s anyone I want to see succeed from the 2025 class that isn’t a Patriot, it’s this guy.

Nope, those are the real things. I’m pretty sure he’s been doing hot yoga, and his arms are now 38 inches and go all the way to his knees.

Just found out... sad to hear it. Well... is there now even a 4th RB worth carrying on the roster? All respect, I don't think Jenning is roster worthy.

Also hope DJ James and Bryant are okay. They left with trainers and weren't carted off or anything so i will assuming minor things.

However any bumps now are bad. Joint practices and preseason game 2 are coming up... it will be the last best chance for these players to see some real sustained action verse another club.
We can roll with top 3 and keep 1 or 2 on the practice squad.

I was hoping they would release him and the Patriots would sign him. He’s a beast.

Paywall, can you give the cliff notes?
I'm not getting a paywall. The article is 2 months old but here is a snippet...

Hoyer was funny describing the difference between Van Pelt’s west coast style offense, which Maye learned last year, and the one he’s trying to decipher now with McDaniels.

“The system he was in last year was Spanish, and this system is German,” Hoyer said. “They’re not relatable at all when it comes to the terminology and what he’s being asked to do. So it’s going to take some time to feel comfortable with that stuff. But once it clicks, it’ll really allow him to flourish.”

Paywall, can you give the cliff notes?
“If you’re the Patriots, you want to see Drake come out of OTAs and minicamp with a decent command of the operation, calling the plays, identifying the Mike (middle linebacker), alerting the play when he needs to, all of the procedural things,” Hoyer said, “because if he gets that down when he gets to training camp, he can focus just on the physical part of it.” Said Hoyer.

“When he gets to the week of practicing against the Vikings, that’ll be a great barometer,” Hoyer said. “You’ll be able to sit there and watch multiple practices against a different defense and you’ll have a really good feeling ... If he goes out and has a Mac Jones type of day against the Giants ... they should all feel really good about where he’s at.”

Brian Hoyer says that the time you want to see Drake progressing is during scrimmages with the Minnesota Vikings. He compares it to what was seen when Mac had his great practice day against the Giants as a rookie.

Thanks.
