Patriots DC Terrell Williams Left Practice Monday

How does one manage to become dehydrated:
a) as an adult
b) as an adult millionaire with endless resources at their disposal
c) as an adult constantly surrounded by several other adults who exist to cater to the players/coaches and whose sole jobs revolve around health/wellness/etc

Sounds like a convenient excuse to give the media, especially with his recent track record of serious health issues. Not buyin' it. And if it really was dehydration then Williams is just plain dumb I guess?

Lots of jumping to conclusions and finger wagging.

Maybe he just had some bad clams and pooped out all his fluids. it's not like he can just take a sick day in the middle of camp.

Probably a good chance it's related to his medical from the spring but it's not like we know what that was either. Could just be not used to diuretics or something like that where it's related but not necessarily a set back.

I hope he is ok, but I'm amazed that he suffered with dehydration. All it takes is drink water, wear a hat, get in shade when you can. But I think calling him a "fat ****" doesn't help
Well apparently nearly dying at 51 years of age due to unhealthy lifestyle choices didn’t help so yes I’m resorting to name calling. Coddling the American obsession with fast food and sitting on our ass all day also definitely does not help. It’s called tough love, something I imagine he tries to utilize while coaching and leading grown men.

My response if you did it to his face probably wouldn't be good either. But since your doing it behind his back on a message board he'll never read so it's not tough love it's just being an *******.

As a complete stranger? You’re absolutely right I’m not saying anything to his face. But his close friends and loved ones absolutely have a responsibility to tell him like it is.

The Patriots won 3 Super Bowls with male models Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel.
I LOL'd.

I'm not a fat shamer. As someone else said, the issue isn't that he's grossly overweight. It's that that most likely contributed to almost killing him, and he came out of the hospital APPEARING identically huge, and then he had to be taken off the field on a stretcher on a fairly mild day.

If some of you think that is not a bad look and not very uninspiring, I will not argue with you. Because I really don't care.

It would be difficult for me to take direction from someone who appears to have no self discipline. The fact that he hasn’t dropped thirty lbs the past couple months after that major health scare is mind boggling. He’s a heart attack waiting to happen.
The gym I go to had a personal trainer who had a body you would not be envious of.

He may have known his stuff, but you should at least remotely look the part.

I agree, personal trainers who are out of shape aren’t going to make much money. But people forget that many football coaches played the game, and the linemen had to beef up to play their positions. Some are able to shed that weight when they are done, others aren’t, that doesn’t mean they don’t know their stuff. Some of the worst coaches I have ever seen were in good shape, e.g… Adam Gase, while some of the best aren’t, Andy Reid, Charlie Weiss.

He was a nose guard in college.

Now you've done it! You just awakened the Ghost of NEM

12 weeks ago today I had a heart attack. I’m only alive because I was a half mile from an ambulance and two miles from a hospital when it occurred. Plus, someone who worked on me in the ER visited me and told me I was also one tough SOB.

Doctors put in three stents that day to rebuild the right artery in my heart. Six weeks ago this Thursday I underwent open heart surgery where 3 arterial grafts were harvested from my left arm and leg grafted into my heart to bypass 6 additional blockages of at least 75%. Today I feel like crap. I had to rest before putting my second sock on this morning. I had been staying with a niece since the surgery but came home to my house Sunday. I’m thinking I over did it the last couple of days. I still have months of recovery, rehab and uncertainty ahead of me.

On the day of my heart attack, I weighed 224 pounds at 5’10”. Today I weigh 233. That’s after 12 weeks of having next to no appetite and eating far less than normal. Fluid retention and swelling plus constant constipation is the culprit . My feet, ankles, and legs are badly and uncomfortably swollen as is my midsection. 3 fluid pills a day and prune juice are still working on that problem.

224 pounds was too heavy, but I had lost nearly 80 pounds off my top weight over the previous 5 years. I walked daily and saw a doctor regularly. Despite the weight, my blood pressure and cholesterol levels had been normal. I was conscientious of it because of my family history. My sister and only siblings has had 2 heart attacks with the first coming in her 40s. Our mother was 41 when she had her first. Her 2nd occurred a few years later. She died of congestive heart failure 16 years ago at 71.

Talking to the doctors and nurses I have over the last few months they’ve repeatedly reminded me that it’s hard to escape your genetics when it comes to health issues.

So, I ask people before getting on their high horse to lecture or blame someone for their illness or sickness to just keep it to themselves. Get well wishes and prayers for recovery are probably the more useful and humble way to go.

Best wishes for a steady and lasting recovery. God bless you!

I know very little about Terrell Williams the man except for the fact that he seems like a damn good coach and I want him to be available to be with the team. The only other thing I know is that he has the resources around him to make at least the strides you have made, but he apparently has not prioritized it over the last 5 years like you have. Great job on the weight loss and investing in more healthy years with your loved ones.

There are some heart medications which cause dehydration. That might be what contributed to his issue yesterday

Yes- He should be aware of that and have fluids regularly but before we jump to conclusions we should take that into account.
Am aware as I have been a long time heart patient, but a leader (DC) should know what his limits are and how to take care of his medical needs..
He should know what to do in order to take care of himself.

I'm inclined to think employees are obligated to show up ready for work, fit for the job. This guy obviously isn't. The team should move on, right now.

Get Well soon only a few more weeks until the season starts and it looks like we will be competitive again so we need every fan in top performance.

Hope he gets well. It's not getting any cooler untill October. It would be nice to have a healthy, engaged DC for game planning and game day coaching. Pretty critical position on this young team which might have a hard time scoring points AGAIN this season.
I hope they get him the diet and life style coaching he needs. Not easy to get in shape over 50 years of age. Ask me how I know.
