Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

I had hopes for Scheirman making improvements to his game but the opposite happened.
He has absolutely stunk in the Summer League. Some say maybe the worst player in the entire league. That's mind-boggling. He's a vet and there's a lot of rookies and hangers-on in that league.
Does not bode well.

They should've drafted the Filipowski kid from Duke. But the Brad & his incompetent HC suck at drafting and despise Bigs; so...

That is my concern. How good is Brad at drafting? In the 1st round Brad so far has picked Scheierman and Gonzalez. Late 1st round picks, but I don't know anyone excited about those picks.

The article you linked states why he was waived.

The new ownership approves.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.

If we're lucky, we'll win another title in 9 years; if we're not, in another 21...

In the mean-time, welcome back to Loserville USA, same as I left it 33 years ago.

captain, what makes you think this team won't contend after Tatum comes back and the C's add a good front court player to go along with Brown and White for '26-'27. I'm pretty sure Tatum could be back by the end this coming season, if the team chooses to let him play, so I don't see his future health being an issue. Those three + any other additions will make this a team a strong contender in the East. You can bet on Brad adding a quality big man sooner than later (by the start of next season the latest).

Too early to say we are entering the ThanksDad Gaston era...

I don't think fans would stand for another such era as it's not that far behind us for most fans to forget.
But you never know. Boston has changed a lot. Pink hatters may not GAF.

I can't go through another ML Carr/Pitino era again......I don't have it in me.

It's not happening any time soon. I don't know this owner so anything is possible but I don't see any Gaston similarities.

Agree. As long as ownership lets Brad do his thing and the Jays are healthy.

They're doomed because they released JD ****ing Davidson?? To open a roster spot for someone who can actually play?

The article you linked states why he was waived.

** By waiving Davison, the Celtics have ducked under the second luxury tax apron while also opening up a roster spot.

Ducking under the 2nd apron by $3 Million and having a roster spot that you expect to fill with someone for less than that is pretty dumb thinking on their part. Who do they think they're going to sign for less than $3 Million? The vet minimum is $3,080,9321, so any vet they sign is going to push them back onto the 2nd apron.

Maybe Stevens is biding time as other trades develop. Clearly Davidson is not worth exceeding the 2nd apron - no criticism of Davidson, but the G league MVP is not worth the penalties associated with being over the 2nd apron three years in a row.

Maybe the other shoe will drop... but they need another big. I don't see them doing well relying on 6'10" Luka Garza and 7'0' Neemias Queta, neither of whom is a proven starter, with both averaging at most about 14 minutes/game (Queta last year & Garza 4 years ago).

A) They didn't want him
B) More moves are coming
