That is why I gave him “partial credit”. The point remains that BB did not pick Brady with our first pick (2nd rounder for Klemm).
Also, in the BB Pats front office era…our scouts were only graded by how said player performed on the team…if a scout had a high grade on someone who went to be a bust for another team….that was not held against our scouts. So, if Brady didn’t pan out…that would have fallen on Rehbein….so **** deserves partial credit also.
McVay's Rams won the SB in the 2021 season.Yes he beat McVay in 2018.
I think both Brady's 7 and Bill's 6 are out of reach, but Reid coaching 3 more wins is much more realistic than Mahomes or any other QB getting to 7.In 2023 when the Chiefs won the SB, Mahomes was not top 10 in yards or passing rating and was not top 5 in TD's or completion percentage.
In 2004 Brady was top 10 in yards, TD, and passer rating. His only non top 10 stat was completion percentage.
In 2003 Brady was 3rd in MVP voting and was again top 10 in yards, TD, and passer rating with completion being his only non top 10 stat.
If you're going to say 2003 and 2004 are proof that Belichick can win without a HOF QB, you have to say that for Reid in 2023.
Right now the argument is a numbers game. Belichick has 6 and Reid 3. If that gap closes, then the argument is going to go beyond the most important thing and be about what they did without QB's. Realistically this all comes down to how long things go and if the Reid/Mahomes pair can get close. If he matches Belichick in ring count, he's going to get crowned because of how he did without Mahomes. But half as many titles is not going to ever win Reid the argument.
Yes, there's no way that you should judge a coach by how he drafts. It's all about how they coach. And we've seen that from the fans here who only complain about Bill's drafts. Everyone agrees that he's a great HC.That’s a GM critique, not a coach critique. And Reid has never been the GM, whereas Belichick pulled double duty as coach and GM. Unless I’m mistaken John Dorsey drafted Mahomes, not Reid. So I’m not sure how Reid gets credit as a greater coach than Belichick on the basis of draft picks, when Reid wasn’t making picks and Belichick was. If anything I would give Belichick even more credit for taking a 6th round pick and helping turn him into the greatest football players of all time. And Belichick ultimately coached both the greatest offensive and defensive player of all time.
Why fire Mayo then?As for Bill or anyone else coaching up players, if that's true then why don't all players they coach turn out great or even just better? Plenty don't because as a HC once said, it's not about the X's and O's. It is about the Jimmy's and Joes.
I do agree their dynasty seems to be winding down.I wouldn’t bet too heavily on either Reid or Mahomes winning any more rings. The dynasty is over.
All good. My point was while Tom was a very good QB in the 01-06 years, BB didn't put the pressure to hang 30 on defenses in 07 onwards.I think both Brady's 7 and Bill's 6 are out of reach, but Reid coaching 3 more wins is much more realistic than Mahomes or any other QB getting to 7.
I don't normally disagree with @RobertWeathers but I also think Brady was better earlier.
Too soon dude. Way too soon.Brady learned how to manage overall games in sync with his defense, and could slow games down to keep Manning off the field, or speed them up to play catch up. No one was better at both of these approaches, imo it was the reason teams had such a hard time coming back in second half’s against them, Brady took the air out of the ball and kept them off the field. Granted he was no Mac Jones, but he did pretty good. And Belichick was the one who really taught him the game management he was so great at. Andy Reid is a great coach, but Belichick is the GOAT, and it really isn’t close. He built a 20 year dynasty in a league structured to keep that from happening.
Yep. The first half of the dynasty was a stronger defense and the second half was a stronger offense, though they still had great games on both sides of the ball over the 20 years. All good. My point was while Tom was a very good QB in the 01-06 years, BB didn't put the pressure to hang 30 on defenses in 07 onwards.
We won't. 20 years. 6 SB wins, 9 SB appearances, 13 AFCCG appearances.Yep. The first half of the dynasty was a stronger defense and the second half was a stronger offense, though they still had great games on both sides of the ball over the 20 years.
I don't believe that any QB/HC combo will ever come close to a 20 year run like that, mainly because I can't see another QB playing at that level for that many years.
Wasn’t he contractually supposed to be the HC when Bill left?Per Steve Palazzolo, Steve Belichick already out as DC of UNC.
At this point, not seemingly being reported anywhere else.Per Steve Palazzolo, Steve Belichick already out as DC of UNC.
Been a while since I dropped in on this thread but I vote we limit it to only believable lies.Per Steve Palazzolo, Steve Belichick already out as DC of UNC.
