Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

Looks like the Celtics got played a bit by the Trailblazers in the end. It turns out that they said that Holiday failed their physical so they pulled the two second round draft picks off the table. It's now a straight trade of Holiday for Simons. I don't know how the Celtics brass let them pull both draft picks over this issue but it stinks pretty badly. It makes you wonder if they could've backed out and gotten a better offer from another team.

It was payback for sending them damaged goods Time Lord and Brogdon.

Maybe but the priority was unloading the remaining 2 years of his deal.

Who cares about form? Jesus.

I think you are overreacting to Brad's statements. It't not like Brad is expecting 20/10 and 4 blocks every right. He'll play 10-15 min and thats it.
It was 16 years between the last two championships. It is looking like the same, or worse, in this case.

That assumes Brad knows how to rebuild from scratch. Ainge is gone.

We gave up Smart, Porzi, Holiday, Brogdan, and RW III, and we have Simons, Niang, Gonzales, and Lurch from W Kentucky. And you want to know why it is depressing?

Half the guys on this forum will be dead if it takes 16 years before the next championship.

Enjoy the journey.

That's a ****ing sad prediction...

especially because it's probably true.
Depends on many things. Could be locked and loaded for a 3-5 year run after next season if they play their cards right. I'd entertain firing Mazulla because he isn't the right coach for what needs to happen this year to set up sustained success.

Mazulla is Tatum's choice so he isn't going anywhere.

This guy was added just prior to the first Summer League game.
He was a top prospect coming in at W. Kentucky but never developed as thought. Better late than never, since we have no bigs? Let's hope he gives better minutes than Luka Garza.

Some Hugo highlights as well.

Bassey's left knee is mush, but hey he's worth a look as a possible call-up candidate from Maine...

I've watched a bit of these Summer League games and it's a bit scary to see Hugo getting stripped by guys who are trying to make a team. Jordan Walsh looks to be primed to take the next step this year, especially if he can keep hitting the open shots. I'm finding Scheierman's play to be a bit confusing at times. He'll miss a wide open jumper and then he turn around and hit some ridiculous shot that he shouldn't even have attempted.

One other note... Kenneth Lofton Jr. is a monster. He looks like an offensive guard out there. 6'6" 275? I'd be more willing to believe 295.

Holiday for no one would have been a great deal. The two second round picks were just an extra bonus. Holiday’s contract is insane especially considering he failed his physical. Celtics should be thrilled the Blazers are stuck with $100M in salary.

The Blazers signing Lillard should remove all doubt their GM is just pranking the fanbase now.

Drew Peterson signed a two-way deal with the Hornets. Seems like his skill set matches up well with what we're going to need in Tatum's absence, so you'd think he'd want to give it one more shot. I guess he wanted to go to a team with more holes to fill to better his chances.

Either way he'd be deep on the depth chart next year. Not a concern.

To be honest, I don't think Peterson did what he needed to make this team.A 6'9" forward probably needs a bit more bulk than the 205 lbs he was listed at. He was able to bang the boards in the G league but it didn't seem to translate over when on the floor with the C's. You would have thought that having two workout monsters in Tatum & Brown would have given him some insight into how to improve his game around the hoop but he never seemed to put on any muscle while he was here.

He's also got some game.

I had hopes for Scheirman making improvements to his game but the opposite happened.
He has absolutely stunk in the Summer League. Some say maybe the worst player in the entire league. That's mind-boggling. He's a vet and there's a lot of rookies and hangers-on in that league.
Does not bode well.
