Agree or disagree? The Maye bar is ankle high.

Every time I scan the threads and see Maye, ankle, and high in this thread title I get a knot in my stomach.

Gives me a double-take every time.

Kraft did him no favors too.

Picked Mayo's name out of hat to look all woke. Was a cheap axx in FA and then his 2 bootlickers botched the draft after picking Maye.
Yes, because it was just a spur of the moment decision based on nothing more than a trip to Israel, and not having known him for, oh, about 15 years or so.
Robert fell in love with Mayo because Mayo was the antithesis of BB, especially for those parts of Bill’s personality that totally went against the grain for Robert. It was just icing on the cake that naming Mayo was totally woke. Unfortunately Mayo was the antithesis of Bill in the most important way: Bill is the GOAT of head coaches; Mayo was the antithesis of that, and quite possibly the WOAT of all head coaches, certainly a strong contender for that title.

What a weird way to talk about a players development. Just talking about a players floor and ceiling in a one year window and not giving the player the benefit of what you think his ceiling will be when he's fully developed is just dumb.
Just talking about any players floor and ceiling is dumb.

There’s no way to know what he’ll be when fully developed.

Agree with all of this, now I could see Maye having more wins but not looking as dominant as he did at certain times last season.

Allow me to elaborate, Josh will make sure that there are plays and situations for certain players to make that play and Drake has to trust that.

He May look a lot more like Clark Kent moving the offense to the next set of downs as opposed to putting on his cape and looking like the Beast we saw in crucial moments last season.

If he is being Josh Allen ish every other play that to me signals the additions on offense don’t have Drakes trust or are not the justice league but just a bunch of neigborhood watch civilians to Drakes Cape crusading.
My concern is that Maye is inherently inclined to play hero ball and trusts himself more than he trusts his supporting cast and offensive coordinator.
Well put!!!! I welcome it all, creativity, flea flickers, RPO, play action. To your points.. winning is the best stat a QB can have.. Drake and his natural abilities will allow him to make something out if nothing whenever a play breaks down..
If Drake is naturally inclined to play hero, and trusts himself more than the offense around him, he may be quick to decide a play has broken down when a little more patience going through his progressions would find there is still an open receiver somewhere even if it’s not the one that was his first choice.
I think Daniel Jones is a good marker for Maye being a bust. His decision making would never develop and he can't stop putting the ball on the ground. That bothers me a lot more than INTs. QB's with big arms sometimes throw INTs, that comes with the territory.

I think having much better coaching this season will help him a lot.
The better coaching and better supporting cast should help him a lot, but ultimately how he develops and whether he busts will be up to him. He could even look better just because of the coaching and supporting cast but not develop his decision making, keep playing hero ball, put the ball on the ground and get his bell rung during attempted heroics. If that happens Wolf will be looking for the next QB sooner rather than later. I’m hopeful it won’t go that way, but it’s something I see as enough of a possibility to be concerning.

Amazingly the offense got worse in 2023, and even worse in 2024.
One... your are absolutely correct my guy... imagine that... the offense actually got worse under guys who actually called offensive plays before.

Not hero ball. But whenever a play we think isn't there.. Drake can get outside the pocket and hit Williams for instance down field... he is a dual threat QB.

Bob picked Mayo after his HOF voting began. Look at the timing of this bewildering announcement.

BK knew Mayo 15 years? What a joke.

He wasn’t surrounded with with good players last year or in college. That changes with JM.

I don't think Drakes's performance to date has told us much at all. He headed an offense with a league-worst roster - or nearly so -coached by the league's worst HC and coaching staff - no question there at all.

He did OK, kinda confirmed that his imputed positive traits are likely real, but that's about it.

I am exactly where I was when he was drafted: I hope he does well, and I think that's a reasonable hope, but I have have no solid idea as to whether he will or will not. So I really don't think we are in a position be picking out comps. The guy is a cipher, wrapped in hope.

He also looks & sounds like the type of kid who wants to follow his coaches' game plan and use his intelligence to scan the field and choose the best option; but so far he hasn't been able to do that with much consistency because of his lousy WRs & even worse OL so he's resorted to using Plan E - tucking & running - as his plan C, or higher...

The front orifice, Vrabel & McD need to do Maye better than he was done last season, because we simply CANNOT be having this same discussion one year from now, which would already be starting year 3 of his 5-year rookie contract window.

Imagine if Drake never played at all last season. We wouldn't have Vrabel and likely still would have mayo!!!!!!!!

If the organization kept mayo, AVP then they would have been doing Drake a disservice. By recognizing the mistake with mayo and getting a real staff in here is doing right by the kid.

Just like they recognized the 32 ranked OL last season and went and got some real OTs. I have much more faith in Vrabel and Josh then anything mayo or AVP could have done. Remember AVP didn't even want to start Drake after he clearly won the starting job and Drake was apparently pissed about it..

Imagine what he probably was thinking.. dam.. I just lost the starting job to Brissett...
