I'm on a Patriots message board forgive me for defending one of the greatest Patriots of all time.

Why should I be expected to be silent while you guys just run around trying to destroy his legacy and by extension the greatness of this team?

No matter what you say, the reality of the situation speaks for itself.

For reasons known but to God, yes... recording the opponent from the sidelines the way NE did that day is a violation of the rules.

As HC of the NEP, it falls on Belichick to know the rules and to obey them. Period, end of discussion.

EDIT: Interesting how the "recording" sentence has since been deleted from the post, but it was there when I responded so I am going to leave it in my response.

I believe the rule also had the phrase “during the playing of the game”.

I believe BB had said that they weren’t using it during the game it was being recorded in so it is an interpretation that Goodell said he didn’t believe.

Interestingly Josh McDaniel was the Pats’ OC at the time, and later when he was HC of the Broncos they were caught taping the 49ers walkthrough.

Now as a repeat offender you would expect the Broncos would have been hammered extra hard, but they were only fined $300,000.

I will leave it as an exercise for the reader to try and figure out why the 5-11 Broncos were only fined $300,000, while the Pats team, who was keeping every other team from getting a bite at the SB apple, lost an unprecedented 1st round pick.

Brady’s legacy is intact. We’re not attacking Bill‘s legacy he is doing that all on his own and we are simply pointing out what we see.

Also thank Brady for the 6 rings. He is primarily the reason why he’s wearing them.

I will leave it as an exercise for the reader to try and figure out why the 5-11 Broncos were only fined $300,000, while the Pats team, who was keeping every other team from getting a bite at the SB apple, lost an unprecedented 1st round pick.

The answer is simple: Because the rest of the League was insanely jealous of the Patriots.

Belichick should have known this and adjusted accordingly. But instead his arrogance made him believe that he could violate both the letter and the spirit of the rules, and still float by on some technicality.

He's not going to say the make believe narrative that's in your head that's for sure. But obviously he's speaking the truth and from his heart only a hater would suggest otherwise.
