“Junkies” aren’t the only ones doing bad ****. Actually I’d go as far as saying that the general populace is just as bad when it comes to ****ing over your fellow man. Us humans are the worst.

Sorry, but I am not doing the whole lazy "Google what I said to prove me right" nonsense. I know about the pills (the OD last year) and DWI, so it is clear he had substance abuse issues, but he has also donated tons of money back into his community. Irsay has donated millions to schools, children's hospitals, the YMCA, domestic abuse shelters, research centers, mental health orgs, and a zoo. The list goes on and on.

So yes, Irsay was a rich kid who inherited a team, had addiction issues, and got a DWI, but he also gave back millions, which is more than a lot of rich people do. So if him being a "bad" person is just being the owner of a rival team, then sorry, I am not going to dance on his grave.
We’re the only fanbase ranting about him being a bad person because of deflategate and that’s really it. Same thing happened with Mort.

I don’t blame Irsay at all for deflategate. Colts were largely just a puppet for the Ravens/NFL for the whole thing. They just happened to be the opponent.

Everyone knows he had flaws, but I think most realized he wasn’t an all around bad dude. It’s not by accident you hear the rest of the league having nothing but great things to say about him despite his own personal issues.

Now his dad is a much different story. Bob was not a good dude.

Rampant drug use, DWIs, and deflategate just the tip of the iceberg
Irsay might be number 40-50 on people to blame for deflategate. The Colts in general were not the ones who started this. He was pretty clueless through that whole ordeal

His drug use is his own lifestyle choice. I guess can understand the DWI thing. But people are pretty selective who they choose to hate/not hate over those.

There seems to be this need for people to have some sort of label on someone else's character. I don't know if it is a new phenomenon or if I just have noticed it more recently. I see it even when people talk about characters on TV shows. A show could run 10 seasons, and a character did/said something bad in season one, and they are then branded with the scarlet letter for the rest of the show. There seems to be no nuance or ability to grasp that most people are complex and have done things that they’re proud of and that they regret.

Everything doesn’t have to be so binary. Yes, Irsay had issues. He abused drugs and alcohol and got a DWI. He also helped raise millions of dollars for cancer when Chuck Pagano got sick. Apparently, he gave out a Christmas card with a $100 bill in it to every Colts employee. He funded a dog shelter and spent millions to try and get a whale out of captivity. Anyone who crossed paths with him since the news broke seems to have made sure to remark on his generosity and compassion.

Things don't always have to be so black and white. Maybe there are things we don't know, but this isn't a death I think is worth celebrating.

His & his HC's sanctimonious, holier-than-thou stands during CameraGate too... As if they should talk about anyone else...

RIP. 65 is actually really young. Especially for a rich person should have the best access to medical care.

Unfortunately for his longevity, medical care isn't the only thing Junkie Jimmy had the best access to as a rich person.
Dude regularly rode it hard and put it away wet, that **** adds up.
(now excuse me while I wash this red meat down with some bourbon)

While I do take your point, Death can be a powerful teacher. One would be a fool not to attend to the lessons of such an instructor.

Death doesn't "teach" the person who died anything. Can't learn if you're dead.

Probably so! I suppose you'd have to ask a dead guy to be sure, but they tend to be very laconic.

The more I think about what any of this means the more disturbed and confused I become.

I don't think Jimmy Irsay was the nicest of people but the man definitely had demons in his life off and on. Guess maybe his past lifestyle caught up with him. RIP.

Pat Mcfee had an interesting perspective at the opening of his show. Gives you a little different look at him.

You might want to elaborate on that a bit more. You kind of left us hanging there.

This.
I have a cousin and brother that have spent most of their adult life obsessing about money and amassing millions. Now they are both nearing the end years and:
1. Have no heirs.
2. Don't believe in giving money to anyone.
3. Don't know what they are going to do about it.

At least he didn't hoard it like a dung beetle zealously guarding his precious ball of dung.
(Not that I'm bitter or anything that I didn't get to waste a life on blow and hookers).

Didn't he spend an obscene amount on one of Prince's guitars?
