What are you expecting from Drake Maye in Y2?

Hoping to see Maye close out some games in the 4th quarter. Score at the end to win. Stage a 2nd half comeback. Those type of things you cannot teach and has been lacking since #12 left us. This also would hold for the defense who haven't been able to stop a runny nose when it mattered in the 4th quarter. BB in charge or not. Those (2) improvements would make me happy and would tell me the team has grown.

I'm not sure if his stats will necessarily be better. But from a second year quarterback, I want to see a development in rhythm, timing, and placement. I think second years are not necessarily going to show up in gaudy stats. I think he ends up looking more 'professional'.

Realistically.. Brady most efficient if you will.. season is probably the year he only had what like 4 or 5 INTs ? Something like that.. we weren't in 3rd and long much because we moved the ball and hit big plays.. that's what I foresee this season under Josh.. chunk yards, safe and efficient offense.. designed runs, exotic formations to keep the defense guessing.

Drake will have 20 plus passing TD and likely 4 to 5 rushing TDs as well.

Here is how i see the season going.

The single season record for yards and TDs will be broken.
After witnessing the awesome power that is this years Patriots and Drake Maye, the Bills, Dolphins and Jets go into full sell mode, trading every asset they can in a futile attempt to one day build a power house that can stand against him.
Coaches from the AFCE retire from football completely seeing no point in going on..
Coaches from all levels in the rest of the NFL quickly migrate to college to avoid the pain.
The net worth of the the other AFCE teams is cut in half.
There are mass suicides among the fan bases
and the NFL as a whole wails is agony at the beginning of yet another Patriots dynasty!

And that's how the end of the first week 2025 NFL will play out for the Patriots.

Now for week two...

I believe they will.. he had dysfunction all around him last season and still managed more TDs and INTs.. under a balanced, fluid and and professional offense with a real coach.. I see Drake having 20 plus TDs.. he had 15 last season..

Because last seasons offense could not score points or convert 3rd downs forcing the defense back on the field. Brisset was cooked and he was QB for 50% of the 4 wins.

This season, Maye plays all 17 games (hopefully) after he got baptized last season. He made rookie mistakes, but he also proved (to me) that this game is not too big for him. I have to believe that Mickey D is better than Van Pelt even though I though AVP did a good job under the circumstances.

Lets use the 2024 AZ Cards for example.

9 wins
12th ranked offense
15th ranked defense
1000 yd rusher in old James Conner
572 rush yards from Murray
1000 yd TE in McBride
No 1000 yd WRs to speak of
39 total offensive TDs
18 rush TDs
21 pass TDs

Those are not really eye popping numbers by any stretch and a 12 ranked offense is several plays from the top 10 club.

For the 2025 Pats, I foresee - 8 - 9 wins.

Maye only had 338 pass attempts in 2024 compared to Murray who had 541 pass attempts. A deficit of 200.
Brisett had a 59% completion rate and Maye finished with a 66% completion rate. That difference seems insignificant, but its not. Anytime you're completing 2 out of 3 passes you're going to compete in a lot of games.

Henderson is going to blow up this season. Not only rushing, but in the pass game too.
Maye is comparable to Murray in his rushing ability. Not shifty like Murray, but capable of taking off with the ball. I see McDaniels using his rush skills throughout the season because that is just 1 more element that opposing defenses need to gameplan for.
Henry and Hooper can surely combine for 1000 yds.
I believe that we will see a 1000 yd Pats WR for the first time since 2019.
The Pats had only 29 total offensive TDs in 2024. Im certain that number will be larger in 2025.
With the Pats defense improving giving up fewer points, combined with the offense scoring more points, that typically leads to more wins.
I agree with your comp and analysis.

IMO, if we have the Offense you project, we will be competitive for the playoffs, since I expect us to have a top 10 Defense rather than the 15th ranked Defense.

As an aside, I want to see a lot of Henderson and Gibson, two very good QB protectors (also a good protecting FB). I wouldn't be surprised to see Stevenson traded.

Apparently 5 of Maye’s first throws today were INT’s. Growing pains in the new offense

I also looked at Cincinnati with 9 wins and the 6th ranked offense and Atlanta with 8 wins and the 13th ranked offense.

The Pats are doble, but of course lots has to go right. I understand the Pats dont have a Jmar Chase or the Bengals WR corp, but I really believe the Pats nailed it with Williams. His Father said that if you liked # 11 youre really going to like # 18. This does not seem the same as Johnny Damons Dad claiming that the Red Sox just let the next Babe Ruth leave for the Yankees.

If not top 10 damn close to it.

Vrabel is a defensive guy. His 1st season as Titans HC ended with having the 3rd ranked defense.

Totally agree.

Stevenson traded and I will tell who is looking for RB help. The Bears. That would be a nice draft pick because I dont see Chicago being that much better this season.

If his passing exceeds Jones’ rookie season passing, I’d be pretty happy.

About a 1,600 yard difference.. Drake had less INT, and 7 less TDs... in 13 games as a rookie.

For the life of me the NE sports media is getting upset over an, OTA shorts and t shirt practice.. I remember in TB12s second season mini camp ty law picked off Brady all camp.. and felger mentioned Brady doesn't appear to be the guy who won the championship last season.. what a joke! When things get real this training camp that's what matters.

Ceiling and floor after year 1?

Ceiling: Herbert
Floor: A poor man's Darnold

Realistic comparable: McNabb. I'm ok with that.

@sb1 my guy are we talking about drake??

Yep our QB.
ok! ... well speaking for myself.. Herbert has kinda plataued I think what you see is what you get with Herbert.. a good QB no doubt but I don’t put him in top 5 category.. I soon see Drake being spoken as a top 10 QB by mid season.

Mahomes
Jackson
Burrow
Allen....
hurts

Who would you say is next?

He is so similar to Allen it's crazy, I had to laugh at the OTA reports... I actually want him getting the TOs out his system while in OTAs.. he's going up against the best secondary in the NFL.

I think Maye’s style is more of a pocket passer QB than Allen. Maye can extend plays but Allen just kills teams with his designed runs on short yardage and rollout to the right.

Until last season I think Herbert was held back by bad coaching and it’s hard to succeed with the atrocious defense they’ve had. In terms of raw Herbert could be in the top 5 right now. It’s only one season but I could put Daniels up there too.

for the rest of the NFL!
