What are you expecting from Drake Maye in Y2?

Less turnovers. Especially if the line is anything close to mediocre.

I'll keep it simple. If he is and stays healthy, I suspect that he's going to be a serious problem for even Top 5 NFL Defenses within the next 2 Seasons and beyond. His supporting cast and coaching will also play a huge factor in that.

I'm predicting a little bit of a slump for Maye next year. I think its going to take time to gel with the receivers in the new offense.
As far as needing to gel he's basically in the same situation he was as a rookie, except with what should be a 50x better supporting cast. I could see a relatively slow start, but expecting a sophomore slump is way too conservative.

Loved the Draft and Free Agency... Think we addressed the most pressing needs on the roster... we might not have solved all out problems, but we took a big step forward...

The biggest change from Y1pbb to Y2pbb is the wholesale replacement of the coaching staff... last year, the staff was inexperienced, and at times even appears unknowledgeable about the game of football... the games we did win, with the exception of Cincy, it felt like we lucked into it... Vrabel & Staff might not be the second coming of Lombardi & Co., but I think we will be much better prepared to face the future than we were last year...

With that said... Drake Maye... you now see the new pieces on the board... new OC... new players... new era... what are you expecting from him? His numbers from last year... and remember its based on ten games (yeah, stats say 13, but really, he played 10 full games)

what are your projections?

He needs to improve the td/int percentage... got to do a deeper dive into his splits, but improvements could be made in areas like first down passes... depth of target... and others i suppose that I cannot think of...

what you got Drake Maye racking up numbers wise with all the new toys and Josh running the show?
Drake had 15 TDs with a talent devoid offense around him no one outside of Boutte won thier matchups on the outside.

Add in Josh, Vrabel at coaching

Williams and Henderson at RB and WR..

In much more efficient, sound offense with big play abilities now. I'm thinking 25TDs to 6 INTs

I expect a lot more big plays, 28 + touchdowns maybe 10 interceptions with over 4000 yards passing.

With Henderson taking some of the load, I just want him to manage the game and take over when he needs to take over and seal some wins without throwing game ending interceptions. Gaining experience and a better o-line plus better receivers will help with that.
You typically don't develop a guy who can take over games by coaching him to be a game manager. Look at what Buffalo did with Allen. They put the ball in his hands, let him make mistakes, and focused on maximizing his talent and potential. In the current state of the NFL, I think that is the way to go. You need a great QB and passing game. If you expect the kid to be your franchise QB and play at an elite level, put the ball in his hands and let him make mistakes and grow. I think it's much easier to reign him in once he has built confidence and play more conservative football when needed, then to treat him with baby gloves and expect him to then just be able to take over a game at the flip of a switch.

Passing 345/500 4000 Yds 28 TDs 10 INTs
Rushing 68 Att 500 Yds 6 TDs

I expect gim to have better pass protection and a better running game. I also expect him to have better wr play with better offensive play calling.

I dont know what he will do with that

yeah that was one butt ugly play (the lateral to Stevenson for a Bills TD).

Mac Jones year 1 stats should be the floor for Maye. Anything less than that, or at least in that ballpark, and we may have to start questioning Maye.

That playcall is beyond dumb. I see running backs drop routine passes all the time and now you want to add the potential of a live fumble into the mix with a purposely thrown lateral???

He might struggle.

The GOAT struggled in season 2 and the Pats missed the playoffs. Marty Schottenhiemer figured out that if you made Brady move off his spot that he was less effective. Took him out of his comfort zone. Once 1 defense is successful at defending a QB other NFL defenses follow suit.

Because Its all on film.

This offseason DC.s have broken down every 2024 play that Maye was involved in looking for tendencies. They have a good idea where he is strong and where he is weak. His favorite plays and favorite receivers.

I hope that's the case.

He’s also really young. He’s younger than both Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders and two years younger than Jayden Daniels. I feel that needs to be taken into consideration when evaluating his rookie performance.

At *least* twice as many wins and also much better Red Zone play resulting in “faaah fewah” field goals….

Noticeably less "3 and outs" would be a blessing

Better decision making and more accurate throws late in games under pressure situations. He was horrible at it last year and I am hoping it is just a rookie thing.

A slump implies worse production than last year. That would not be a slump, it would be a horrible year.
