Maybe your two cherry picks (who both have longer arms) didn't perform well in the NFL because they simply suck, is that possible? My point is as of right now there is no proof based on game stats and film that he will fail in the NFL. His two sacks over two years is all the proof he can give currently that he can play LT. Time will tell and not a tape measure.Ikem Ekwonu 2 1/2 sacks in his last 2 years.
Evan Neal ZERO sacks in his last 2 years.
Some of these guys stone practically everyone they face in college.
Different story in the NFL
How is that cherry picks? I looked at top 10 tackles from the last few years. I could've mentioned Olu Fashanu or even Paris Johnson. There have been a lot of busts in the early picks for tackles. Charles Cross is considered an average OT.Maybe your two cherry picks (who both have longer arms) didn't perform well in the NFL because they simply suck, is that possible? Or right shape for that matter. Dude squated over 600 and did 30+ reps with 225 and showed his strength was way above average for this draft but now we are concerned about how he is shaped. It just never ends.I sure hope the rest of our picks have the right body measurements.
Yes, time will tell but a big part of forums like this is sharing opinions and making projections. Many here have said low sacks allowed in the SEC and therefore future NFL stud. That poster disagreed with that assessment and posted some evidence against using stats like that as a tell-tale sign of NFL success.Maybe your two cherry picks (who both have longer arms) didn't perform well in the NFL because they simply suck, is that possible? You have to project from college to the pros...what other option is there? The best indicator of future success is previous performance whether you like it or not. Until he shows otherwise he is the starting LT and I believe he will succeed. How is that cherry picks? I looked at top 10 tackles from the last few years. Ekwonu and Neal are by no means cherry picks if you're looking at the last 3 or 4 drafts.
Again-- my point wasn't about the arms. It was a warning about being impressed by the lack of sacks given up by tackles in college.
The Giants may not want to hear this but Marcus Mbow totally stoned and neutralized Abdul Carter in college. I don't really think that means the same is going to happen to Carter in the pros nor that Mbow is going to be a great tackle. I only think it means projecting from college to the pros seems like a fool's errand.
It's a big concern if you want a WR instead.Put a ruler on the end of your fingertip to see how much 3/8” actually is. Then consider that there’s a dispute about the combine arm measures being off for everyone this year and that he’s been measured as 33”, same as all pro Slater. Then also consider the hand/finger length distortion
issue that everyone’s pointing out here.
Now tell me with a straight face that Campbell’s arm length is a big concern.
He told them week 5 last year that he wanted to come to NE.I assume it's mostly just due to the fact we were the first team in the draft that was going to take him.
Whenever I'm on a job interview I also tell the company I'm very interested in working for them.He told them week 5 last year that he wanted to come to NE.
Don't rightly hold too much faith in the ratings, but since there is really nothing else, PFF ranks Bernhard Raimann and his 32 7/8 inch arms 85.1, the 8th best LT in the past year...Phil Perry on the radio today mentioned Slater, also he mentioned that the Colts left tackle has sub 33” arms.
I mentioned this in my thread and it needs to be pointed out. Most tackles don't give up A LOT of sacks. The game is different and you've seen it the players. OL/DL/QB - Shemar Stewart for example but most. But back to the point. It's just not a useful thing to pay attention towards. It's nice and is what it is but everything is rpo, quick, design. The amount of teams who even deploy two pass rushers on a single down is very much down. It's been like this for a while.Again-- my point wasn't about the arms. It was a warning about being impressed by the lack of sacks given up by tackles in college.
It's not easy but I try. And try. Hope all is well!I only think it means projecting from college to the pros seems like a fool's errand.
Here’s to it. Let’s support him and hope for the best.
Yes.
Great kid. Hope it works out
I dreamed for 20 years, during Brady's entire career here, to draft a stud LT.
Dreams do come true kids!!!
I refuse to believe an entire draft does not have 1 elite LT.
An instant classic. His raw emotions and humanity really touched a lot of Patriots hearts.
Not rooting for this kid to succeed is like hoping your airline pilot crashes the plane you are on so you can see a plane crash up close.
