Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

Milton is better than Dobbs. You keep the better cheaper player.
The league disagrees. If he was better, the Pats would have had a lot of better offers for Milton than what they got from the Cowboys.

People are just butthurt he's gone because he was "exciting". Michael Bishop was exciting too that didn't make him good.

Dobbs is what we call a 60% completion guy, he throws 1 INT for every TD he throws, the one season he played max snaps he fumbled the ball 1-2 times per game.

Vrabel has a relationship with Dobbs, they were also nervous about a QB controversy if Maye continued throwing picks.

Dobbs isn’t good and they could easily slide him to the practice squad if they simply wanted a mentor for Maye.
Milton can't read defenses and to quote his scouting report he has "scattershot accuracy" throwing short. If the team felt he was better than Dobbs and there was a chance he would be better than Maye sometime they would have kept him.

Ian Rappaport echoing exactly what I said yesterday.

I need my own GrilledCheeseSandwich style twitter account. This Savage guy is biting my takes.

Agreed. I believe more than anything this was Vrabel putting his stamp on the culture.. Milton from reports had a sense of entitlement, and if you remember Vrabel mentioned this emphatically in his opening press conference. This had more to do with that than anything personal between Milton and Drake. The team liked Milton alot, and did him a solid by trading him to his team choice as he's a Texas guy.

I agree with someone else who mentioned that a move like this will help change the player perception of the Patriots organization for the better. It's not that great right now.

Winning is the only thing that will change the perception. When we were in AFCCG and hoisting Lombardis.. the perception was different. When you loose every little thing is magnified. So I agree it will help change the perception. Consecutive seasons of being at the bottom will always affect a teams perception.

Didn't think of that. Good point.

I wonder who the next binky backup QB will be around here. Lol.

Brady was a 6th round pick you know so everyone is the next Brady.

When you see the highlights of that Bills game, that Joe Milton is worth more than a low 5th. But Vrabel wanted him gone because Maye/Milton is not a good working tandem. That really should have been obvious a year ago before we drafted Milton. Most of us at the time felt it didn't make sense, and guess what it didn't.

But whatever, we filled a hole in our draft board. Draft a placekicker with the 5th and move on.

I just don't get all the hand wringing from some people (not necessarily just on this site) about this trade. Sure I was disappointed about what the Patriots got and I originally didn't think they should trade Milton for so little.

But really what is the guy? He beat the Bills third stringers with much of the Patriots' starting offense. It was a glorified preseason game. He shows a lot of promise, but he hasn't proven his ceiling is above being a solid backup in this league. Despite how we all think, I am guessing most GMs feel the same.

I wished the Pats could have gotten a 4th or even a 3rd, but they didn't time to move on. The Pats need bodies on the field who can make this team better. Ultimately, that fifth rounder may do the Pats far more good than Milton can.

"The #Patriots had a better offer for Milton but chose to send him where he wanted out of respect". ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!

We're fans of the dumbest team in the NFL.
You forgot about the Jest.

A 5th rounder for a 7th and a guy who not be in the league in a few years? Steal.
This…it’s really that simple until proven otherwise by Milton and the players drafted as a result of this deal.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth here is good entertainment though.

You are absolutely insufferable and hilarious. Its like you are telling your mechanic to change out the blinker fluid because you know there is a clunking noise in the spare tire. You truly have no idea what the base concepts are for EP. I already stated multiple times Josh is tweaking the system. Every year, JOSH TWEAKS THE SYSTEM. This is not new. He took a year out of football, learned new concepts, and is putting them into the EP system. The system didn't change. The equivalent of what you are saying is that Josh speaks English. In his year off he learned some language concepts from German and now uses a few words and phrases from German. According to you, Josh now speaks German. No, He still speaks English. Go back to Web MD.
Honestly it’s hard to be more insufferable than you

Josh McDaniels is a control freak - I'm not saying that as an insult, just as the reality of what WRs have been saying about him forever. You do A, B, C, and D. No freelancing.

Joe Milton is an improvisor (and fun as hell to watch).

Oil and water.

For the record, I think Milton might have a long and decent career. He doesn't get rattled, can rip off 60-yard runs, and can throw the ball a lot better than what was advertised. My guess is that McD wanted nothing to do with him.

Even still, you don't really care that Joe Milton is behind your 3rd overall QB in his second year as a pro. Maybe if it was a decent backup prospect like Garoppolo was, but Joe Milton has always been getting a little bit overrated around these parts to think he was a serious threat to Maye's job. Such is the enamoration with late round QBs in the New England area and the idea of them taking over the starter's job, though.
The HOF is loaded with late round QBs and another (pick #199 in 2000) will be heading there real soon.

Albert Breer made some good points this morning.

One of the better ones is that the Rams have an aging Matt Stafford, and 3-4 6th round picks, and AVP now works for the Rams.

Shouldn’t they have been interested if AVP could have provided positive intel?

“The league disagrees.”

That ^ makes no sense. The league didn’t want Josh Dobbs either, Vrabel wanted him.

Michael Bishop never played. You’re making up a fictional scenario in your mind and pretending it’s real life.

Milton at 24 seems to be a decent game manager who doesn’t turn the ball over and can make some plays with his legs. Dobbs is ten years in and still turns the ball over, he’s not good.

The Pat’s didn’t want a distraction if Maye struggled. So Milton is gone.

Ya I know. Thats why I give him props. Truth is truth. Facts are facts. I am not sharing my opinion on EP or Josh. Just facts. I don't care if you want to live in an alternate reality because facts hurt feelings. I am still going to say truth.
