Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

Say Tua has another concussion and he's the starter in Miami.
I'd rather not face him twice a year for the next decade.

At least on the Cowboys, you'll only get him once every three or four years, potentially.
I'd love to face an inaccurate passer who can't read defenses twice a year.

Milton wasn't competition for Maye or they would have kept him.
This is like, the exact opposite of the reason why they traded him out of conference.

If they didn't care, they would have traded him to the Jets for a 4th.

Doubt they would want to trade a used bag of footballs to the Jets.

So trading him out of conference was the price for getting a lesser return? I guess it makes some sense.

I'd just rather the higher return. But who else was asking for him that we'd be afraid he would turn into a stud, the Jets? The Jets will ruin whatever QB goes to them regardless of ceiling.
Yeah I would’ve preferred the better draft pick, whichever that would’ve been, even if it meant sending him to an AFC team. The 49ers had no issue trading Trey Lance within the conference and getting back a 4th rounder for him. And he was a much bigger investment when the 49ers traded up for him than what the Pats spent on Milton. And now four years later, after showing very little with the 49ers and nothing with the Cowboys, Lance may be playing for Saskatchewan in 2025. Would not surprise me if Milton’s career arc resembles Lance’s. (Also random fact: I just noticed that Lance is two months younger than Milton despite having three more years of NFL experience on him.)

Doubt they would want to trade a used bag of footballs to the Jets.

I’m hoping that’s BS and the real reason was they didn’t want to trade him to an AFC team for a marginally better return (like deciding to take the 171 from Dallas rather than the 156 from Pittsburgh).
I think it’s wholly made up and there wasn’t a better offer.

At least PatsFans is consistent. How many times has PatsFans thought trading a player was for too low a draft pick and Pats management forego better offers? It happens over an over, so it is OK.

Yup, the value Pats fans put on their own players seldom align with the rest of the league. I can’t think of many times the Pats have traded a player and the fans end up happy with the compensation. I’ve been guilty of it myself, like when Uche was traded to the Chiefs for a 2026 6th round pick. I was mad they didn’t get more in return for him. Turned out to be a nothing-burger in the end.

So many comments lol

They got another pick so they have more to work with in the draft, good move

Don’t really know what anyone was thinking was gonna happen with this nobody. Come on guys

I think that the common mindset here was to let him play some either when Maye was out, or possibly at the end of the season, and maybe get a 3rd for him. Wishful thinking? Probably, but that’s how our fan minds work.

But even better than that. PatsFans inevitably also finds a rumor that the management forego a better offer for reason X, Y, or Z. It is amazing how rumors by grilledcheesesandwich are deemed credible because, of course, management passed on better offers because 1. Nepotism, 2. Kickback, 3. Insider trading, 4. Etc.

Seeing how you don't know what system or terminology they will use next year, neither does yours.

Again, you can choose to be ignorant if you want. You are a fool if you think all of a sudden Josh stopped using EP. Just stop the idiocy already. Even today he talked about how Drake has to learn his language. Josh didn't change. The more you type, the more ridiculous you look.

3rd round pick

Why do you always resort to calling people fools and ignorant when someone disagrees with you? The person that looks small and ridiculous is you. Have the day you deserve.

Actual question, what type of offense do you run in your local league? I am just curious and do you have any inspirations as a OC?

3rd round pick
I said a 3rd round pick too. I was so wrong. I over_reacted. I guess Milton's inexperience is a huge determent. I am sure the Pats had multiple offers and the other offers were similar. Maybe Milton wanted the Cowboys so that determined the final spot but I doubt the other offers were much better.

This is an under appreciated benefit to drafting Zappe in the 4th round.

Zappe never caused a 27 page thread discussing trading him.

Or several threads for that matter.

Bailey Zappe knew how to keep our expectations in check.

Dude played so well it cost us the #1 overall pick.
We gained nothing here…net waste of a 6th round pick.

If I’m being honest, I thought we would get closer to what you thought than what we got
