Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

Well their last pick 233 or whatever it is.

There are probably going to be 4-year college starters still on the board at that point. Maybe a McCord drops that far or something
Kurtis Rourke maybe? I have no idea, just throwing names out.

So bottom line, got nothing for Milton, and now have to waste another late round pick in a young QB. It explains why they are talking to college QBs.

I don't have a problem with them using a late day 3 pick on a QB. They should be looking to draft one every year, at least every other.

I said nothing about a rec league. You just made that crap up, but that is what board trash does to win arguments. But here is your absolute ignorance: I never said they are running the old NEP EP system. That is a second piece of crap you made up. I said they are running the EP system. I said nothing about the old NEP system under BB. The EP system is the EP system. It was around before BB or Josh. Yes, Josh's offense changes every year. He add things. He subtracts things. He changes languages. He incorporates thoughts and ideas from others, but what you don't get is that it is still all the same EP system. It is a concept based system that diagnosis the defense at the line of scrimmage adapting with concepts rather than routes. It uses single-word concepts rather than assigning roles to each player. It separates the concept from the formation, so regardless of the formation, each player runs the appropriate pattern based on the one word concept, and its all about communication. Josh is not changing any of that. Once Drake gets the concepts and language, he will take off because he is cerebral and gets football. Josh is not running a West Coast. He is not running the Coryell. He is running the EP and will morph it to meet the modern demands of the the NFL.
You were OC for a league...excuse me.

Josh's offense has evolved over the years. The other point is if they feel they want to use WC terminology for Maye, they will. Multiple people close to the team have said that.

That is not EP. That is a blend/hybrid.

Ben Johnson, McVay, and others run a blended offense. That means concepts are taken from other offenses and the terminology is adjusted.

Now stop stating you know for a fact what the team will do because you don't.

Whatever you think of Milton, he was very very exciting to watch.
I can understand why he wants a chance to play.
My question is why did they draft him, after drafting Maye?
Nothing wrong with drafting day 3 project QBs. Bill did it too and there was no chance they would take Brady’s job.

dude, come on... she said Local League...

hmmm...

how is a local league different from a rec league? i'm guessing they don't get pizza & beer afterwards?

Not this year though. QB is by far the worst position group in the draft, starting from QB1 all the way down.

Dobbs isn’t good. Milton was good for one start and is mature for a rookie. He’ll probably never be amazing, but everyone here wants him starting over Dobbs if Maye gets hurt and the playoffs are within reach. Anyone saying otherwise is lying or clueless.

If it was that, it removes the Zappe vs Mac circus that the fans created, many on this forum. I don't blame the team for doing it if that is the case.
So what if there's a circus? I sincerely doubt Drake Maye would be affected by a message board "QB controversy". He's certainly more mentally resilient than Mac Jones.

Why now....Vrabel, was this the best interest of the team? Just explain it. Dobbs is better than Milton, need to get this done before the draft? 900K on the books was to much? Nobody would fear Milton as a backup? You cut him before you met em? He's that awful in your opinion and you need a third qb for training camp? I can't make any sense of this. Didn't even make it to weight training? Bentley was your opinion because you brought in your own. Same with Milton?

Sure. So a 7th that won't hurt, or an UDFA... there's maybe 10 QBs that can be drafted at some point, but it's real thin to your point.

They get a game stick after... in the NOSHO. @maust

If somebody said the Patriots were trading the rights to their 6th round pick for a 5th this year we’d all be celebrating.

But because Milton balled out against Buffalos backups in a meaningless game we act like they sold the franchise.

Granted they could have held onto him, he’s cheaper and has a higher ceiling than Dobbs, but at the same time he’s a backup without a meaningful game under his belt.

Certainly stands to reason they could have been a bit more patient with the kid but at the end of the day- whatever the reason...system fit, football IQ, attitude, throwing accuracy, ugly girlfriend, etc they did not want him as part of this organization.

I cannot fix stupid. You can believe Josh runs the tooth fairy unicorn offense if you want. Good for you. Josh runs the EP system. It makes no difference what ignorance you choose to believe.

I mean, at this point, you can legitimately call it the Erhardt-Perkins-McDaniels, because he's had as much practical use and added plays to it over the years.

He said, himself, that he's made some big adjustments to it, terminology-wise over the years, being in the league and just observing how it's done other places.

At it's core, it's the E-P, you're correct. That said, the beauty of the E-P is how adaptable it is Josh simplfying or changing some things to be more palatable to other offenses kids come out being used to out of school is not out of the realm of possibility.
