2025 Draft: WRs

Where do you stand on Teslaa? Love the athleticism but my two main concerns are that 3/4 of his snaps are in the slot and I want an X and secondly, he doesn't look as athletic on film as his testing suggests. I do like the potential for upside his athleticism suggests though.
Raw. He's more a guy you do the switchblade stuff with. If you're just looking for a guy to attract attention15-20 times a game. Speed is required so maybe plus he's got 6 inches on Thornton's vertical, which is weird.

I think Baker very well could end up off the 53, either to the PS or cut. I know fans really want him to work out, but I don't think he has it, and we are better off keeping the vets and the young guys that have actually produced.
I already moved on.

I pretty much stopped reading his profile then I saw that; and then there is the lack of production....in had 3 games in '24 were he was shut out entirely; just over 500 for the season; their top guy had around 1100, but he (Armstrong) isn't a great prospect either....pretty surprising that Teslaa couldn't do more on that team with his apparent athleticism.

I was reading an article comparing Travis Hunter, Jaylin Noel and Kyle Williams, three of my favourite receivers in this draft, but there is the obvious implication that comparing these three suggest they are all similar type receivers. This led me to come up with a theory that may or may not be correct.

1. We have shown a lot of interest in both Noel and Williams who, along with Josh Conerly, are the only prospects we've had three points of contact with.

2. I think that means that they may be viewed as alternatives to Travis Hunter.

3. Adding Diggs and Hunter would create a pretty full receiver room so a double dip is less likely.

4. In other words, if we draft Hunter, we won't draft Noel / Williams but if we miss out on Hunter, we will target them.

And one further unrelated thought. One way we could double dip if we add Hunter would be to draft Dont'e Thornton. He would add something to the receiver room that it doesn't really have, the height/weight speed guy. Thornton is limited but the skill set he has is what we lack.

This is why I'm trying to avoid having a WR binky like the plague. Except Hunter.

The only way all these other WR binkies come into play is if they miss out on Hunter/Carter and take a LT with their first pick.

If they take LT first, then I'll cave and let Jayden Higgins and Kyle Williams pull at my strings to be binkies.

I'm pretty sure I've said it before, I think we hope for Hunter at #4, or just look at DAY 3 WRs. And specifically guys that have the size/release to play on the line as an X. They have drafted 4 WRs in the last two drafts that I think (another) new coaching staff is going to want to see what is actually there; along with Hollins, Diggs and Bourne; plus a couple PS guys.

One of the issues is alot of these guys are tweeners, they just don't fit into slots cleanly, a bunch of guys who are kinda Z/Slots, not alot of even average Xs.

Diggs played more inside in Houston, why? Age or fit?

Boutte played X more because of need.

Polk was tried outside, but that was a failure...is he better as a big slot? Can he get over the hands issue? He can get open.

Baker, couldn't get on the field and his highlight film college catches may overshadow the fact he just doesn't get open when he is actually on the field.

Bourne is a Z with some positional versatility

Hollins is a X

Douglas has shown he can play in the league, but is he a high volume slot? Or is he a 4th WR in wide packages?

Jackson- Practice Z
Jiles - Practice X

If you aren't getting a player that is penciled in as a day one starter, Hunter....I think you just need to find a project X guy that you would rather have on the team than Baker.

Hunter/Carter/Campbell at 4.

If Hunter/Carter, then a LT at 38, or trade up to get the one we want (Simmons/Conerly/Ersery).

If no trade, Campbell at 4. #38 is for a WR. I would like to see a second LT at 69 or 77 (Trapilo/Grant/Belton).

Without alot of X prototypes in this draft, I'm just not sure who is going to be available at 38 that has the potential to be a plug in day one X....guys with the size, speed, and technique don't hang around long. If one isn't there, I would rather take another position that could be a day 1 starter.

For me Egbuka, Higgins, Noel, or Bech. I doubt Egbuka is there. Higgins is your traditional X.

None of them really excite me at 38; at least Higgins physically fits a need; but he reads as another guy that is going to have a hard time playing on the line and it doesn't make sense to me to pick him that high.

??? Is his route tree Questionable?? I need answers.

T Hunter seems close to a complete Receiver... J Higgins leaves a lot to be desired. Higgins might be a workout warrior: those types often disappear when the real bullets fly.

No, I don't think he's a workout warrior, he just needs more experience.

I love Matt Harmons break downs, but I have a question about his color coding. Does anyone know the cutoffs that he uses for red, yellow and green?

In the example below McClaurin in 2020 his 9 route is 68.9 is green and then in 2021 his comeback is a 70.8 and its yellow. I have not seen any explanations of how he comes up the color codes.

Edit: The route frequency is an important slide as well so if a player runs the slant 10% of the time and was 80% success off the 10%.

What's the deal with Luther Burden III? His tape is amazing; he has incredible acceleration while he is on the move. The last guy I saw with that acceleration on the fly was Worthy. However I have heard dark rumors about character issues. Is he the real deal or the next George Pickens?
