I’m with you most of the time on it being a team game not a god QB, and Oline over shiny hood ornaments but judging a draft based on every other rookie in history is a crazy take. You can only draft who is available and just because Campbell would have been the 4th OT taken last year doesn’t change he is the consensus #1 this year. You admit to having not evaluated the class yet so listen to those who have. Every single player likely to be available at #4 has a question mark, a flaw, a potential reason they will bust. There are exactly 2 “A+” players and a QB that’s going to be drafted top 5 on hopes, prayers, and sadly no one better.

That leaves the Patriots in the unenviable position of getting first choice in a tier of players that are all equally questionable. Some don’t care about Tet’s lack of speed and consistent production, others like myself call it a deal breaker and wouldn’t draft him in the top 12. For some 4 years of elite production against the best the country offers outweighs Campbell’s holy crap historic small wingspan. Why draft an 8/10 RB when there are about (20) 7/10 RBs further down in the draft? Graham has some great stats and athletic ability but came in 30 lbs underweight, plus played next to a behemoth monster so how good will he be really? My personal favorite, after having watched tape, is a 20 year old dancing bear with feet that made me say wow multiple times, not to mention several nasty pancake blocks. Problem is Membou has only ever played RT. Can he make the switch? 20 is pretty young so that’s a gamble I am willing to take but plenty of players are one side only, wiping your ass with your left hand and all that.

Point is saying “there is always an A+ player at #4, just maybe not at a position of need” is not true this year. The Patriots just have first choice in a tier of question marks.
You grade prospects the same no matter what. If Tet is a B+ or B- based on your evaluation system... you don't reach for him in the first. It doesn't matter how desperate you are for the WR position or the year. If the draft was this crappy, you should have signed more free agent WR's.

Otherwise there's probably WR's available in the 2nd and 3rd round with a similar grade to Tet. I had no problem with Polk as a prospect, I had the same grade on him as I had on Javon Baker... they both should have been taken in the 4th round or later. Polk shouldn't have been taken in the 2nd round... that was a reach.

I don't have to listen to those who have been looking at the draft class to judge Tet, he's done working out from what I can see. The combine and pro day came and went and he chickened out.

Ask me in April for a fuller evaluation of the draft class, it's too soon... but Tet is overrated.

Drake Maye threw at the North Carolina pro day. He didn't hide.

Reverse psychology doesn't work on me.

And saying I wouldn't like Tet if he had run a 4.3 forty, had exceptional agility drills and a 40 inch vertical is silly talk. I liked Julio Jones. I would use a 4th overall on him in a heartbeat... is he in this draft class?

Go read what I was saying about Tee Higgins and his 4.5 forty speed earlier this offseason, I didn't want to pay him either... and he is a proven NFL player.

Vrabel could be completely correct, maybe Campbell can play LT with his feet. Joe Thomas had 32" arms but made 8 All Pro Teams, 10 Pro Bowls and the Hall Of Fame. Great linemen block with their feet first and Campbell is a great athlete. I'd imagine there's some other very good OT's in this draft class as well.
Interesting logic because you should have wanted Higgins. If you were wrong about that then logic could lead one to think you're wrong again. Now I'm more confident Tet should be the pick.

Obviously if Carter or Hunter are gone

I didn't want to trade high draft capital, only to then pay Higgins a top of the market contract.

That's ^ a stupid way to do business, you paid twice for the same player.

Drafting a 2nd round WR at #4 overall is equally as dumb, or maybe worse.

lets hope

we can find plenty of WR at 6'4 who are faster and are actually doing agility drills to show

I love it, dude is my guy. He also lines up primarily in the slot at Arkansas.

I also would love the Pats to draft Jayden Higgins another 6-4 guy, I think he will be as good/ or pretty close to as good as Tet

There was a difference in wanting Higgins for just money, and wanting Higgins for money AND draft capital.

Even then I sort of leaned toward a 2nd rounder being worth it since he's only 25, but certainly it was a lot more difficult of a decision.

Even still it's funny for the guy to say he doesn't like Tet and compare him to Higgins who he said he didn't want either and then immediately change his mind to I didn't want Higgins when it cost a second and a big contract.

Our math must be different.

Harry is 6’2 3/8 which is 74.375 inches.

Tet is 6’4 1/10 which is 76.1 inches

76.1 - 74.375 = 1.72 inches.

1 inch and 3/4 difference

The best info I can find says 6027 for Harry. That's 7/8 not 3/8. But it's a pretty minor difference, and I'll give you the height argument.

Where I disagree is that he was double covered. I've watched pretty much every target he's had over the last couple years and he put up most of his numbers against zone or going in motion and not dealing with a lot of attention, which is weird for someone of his stature and production. Again, I like him, and think he'll be a solid player, but he's the kind of guy I would hope to get in the 25 to 40 range most years.

If I recall, we agree on Hunter as priority.

No.... I said I wouldn't take Tet with the #4 overall pick.

You can disagree with me, that's fine... but don't lie about what I'm saying.

This is a copy/past job but how about Chimere Dike instead?

Guy played at a school that doesn't pass much, then transferred to Florida and increased his production.

Then he went to the Senior Bowl and had a great week there according to coaches and scouts.

Then he went to the combine and showed out. He has good size and speed, which is what the Patriots lack... more importantly they don't have to burn a first to get the guy.

Chimere Dike
6'1" 196 lbs
4.34 Forty
38.5" Vert
128" Broad
6.82 Cone
4.27 Shuttle

Give me that guy ^ in the middle rounds.

4 inches per second you say?

Yep....when comparing 4.53 secs vs. 4.48 secs per 40 yards....

40 yards = 120 feet = 1,440 inches.

1,440/4.53 = 317.88 per second (or 26.49 feet or 8.83 yards/sec)
1,440/4.48 = 321.42 (or 26.78 feet or 8.92 yards/sec)

But then again...this is guys in their underwear, no pads/helmets, no DB jamming them on the LOS, and running in a straight line after setting up like a track runner (not standing up like in a NFL game).

Nonetheless....I'd be lucky to run a sub 7 second 40 myself....

I have seen this too many times before. Big, slow, "50/50" guy shows up and catches 50 balls for 500 yards over his short career here.
You have? Just curious, how does a guy classify as a 50/50 guy when he is one of the best at yards after catch?

“Incomplete” as far as I’m concerned, he only ran one drill because people questioned his speed… and his speed ended up being average.

I don’t like prospects who are afraid to compete. He wasn’t that good in college where he could afford not to workout. The only reason he didn’t workout is it could only hurt and not help him. He and his agent know he is not some athletic dynamo.

The quotes are yours zero misrepresenting.
You’re not providing “quotes” when you pretend I said something I didn’t… and a GIF doesn’t change that.
