(My (Bedard's) Stats)
(PFF Stats)

He cooked the numbers in his own tweet to get a Hot Take (tm) out there.
Tbf his numbers on Lowe are consistent with people who've analyzed Lowe's every snap (our own @KCSVEN being one such person). Lowe is a mediocre pass blocker and a dreadful run blocker.

Do agree he uses a different grading system (PFF stats) for Cam Robinson to exacerbate his point and get hawt take engagement.

trade value chart 2025 version

#4 pick - 1800 points
to Indy

for
#14 pick- 1100 points
#45 pick (2nd round)- 450 points
#81 pick (3rd round) - 185 points
#116 pick (4th round) - 62 points

return: 1797 points

Not saying Indy is the ideal trading partner, or that they would give up all of those picks in the same year, but there is certainly added value at #4 that I think would be wasted on a LT pick, though I'm no draftnik / expert.
Problem is that LT is an emergency situation. We cannot start Lowe, and the best chance of getting a starter is a higher pick. We would have trade flexibility if and only if we procure a starting LT before the draft.

Is there an LT good enough to lock down the position for several years even available in this draft?
I am not paid to know the answer to that question.

Someone knows though. I have a hard time buying that there isnt at least 2 LTs in this draft good enough for lengthy NFL careers.

More importantly, no one knows which two they are.

I've broken down the stats before but Brady had never once played behind an elite Oline.

In fact he has at times been near the top of most sacked QBs in a season.

Aaron Rodgers has been the most sacked QB a couple times early in his career as well.

Weak to bad oline play doesn't break a QB, but it does add to losses so it is important to get at least average play at the oline
So, having the greatest qb of all time can in some cases negate a crappy OL.

Got it

I think the patriots must come out of this draft with a starting LT or risk putting Maye in the hospital and or ruining his career.

That is most likely Campbell, but it could be someone else if they can trade down or trade up...both unlikely

My point was it's a farce that a bad oline breaks a QB into being a bad QB. It's not true.

Aaron Rodgers is a HOF and he suffered poor oline play most of his career.

Obviously a good oline is preferable to a poor one. But having a weak oline won't stop a future great QB from being great

Maybe their plan is simply to draft a LT at 4. And if by some miracle Hunter is available, they can trade down a few slots and still take their LT then.

Last year they couldn't help Lowe much because the rest of the line was terrible too. So we don't really know what he might be like with better coaching and decent players to his right. Based on the stats he's a little worse than Robinson, but not by much. But his run blocking was indeed terrible.

So not crazy to keep Lowe and plan on the rookie starting a few games in.

There are also different kinds of sacks.

1) Designed QB rollouts or runs that a defense has guessed at and beat the QB to the line of scrimmage.
2) Holding the ball, waiting for something to happen, IE: the coverage sack.
3) Where the offensive line just collapses and the QB is running for their life.

Types 1 and 2 can inflate sack numbers in ways that don't necessarily harm development and shouldn't reflect poorly on the linemen.

It is Type 3 that knocks a QB's confidence. They're the types of sacks that make a QB 'see ghosts', throw off their back foot, hurry their internal clock, and distrust their reads. And we saw PLENTY of Type 3 the past couple of years.

If the issues with our OL were just Types 1 and 2, sure, draft Hunter with your first pick. That'd clean up a lot of issues. When Brady had guys who got separation, the OL was good enough to give him time to get the ball to those guys.

But I think we've all seen Maye get crushed immediately often enough to know the problem is the OL, first and foremost.

Was it Charlie Weiss's offense that used a Ton of 1-2 steps and fire it out to the flat in like 1 second?
I see other teams use that at times lately, but not us so much.
Maybe I'm imagining things.

How did we whiff on Tunsil? That’s what I want to know

Maybe they thought he was done. Surprised Houston did that, they spent a bunch for him.

Who is the elite LT in the draft this year?
That is a subject for discussion.
There doesn't appear to be one top stud that everyone agrees on. all the top ones have warts.
Campbell, my favorite, arm length. seen more as a guard by some
Banks is seen more as a guard by some. balance issues
Membou has mostly played RT, can he switch sides?
Simmons coming off an injury.
later prospects who may be the top tackle this year
Connerly consistency issue and had a bad day in practice at the Senior Bowl
Mbow played for a bad Purdue team.
Ersery balance and consistency

I like Campbell since he looked great for his career in the SEC and I would even take him at 4, but others disagree. We will see what happens in a couple years,

Campbell is my pick, he stood up to the fkn best in a hard conference.
Even Scar said Arm Length was OVERRATED.

Yep. The biggest myth among Pats fans was that Brady had "great" OL's. The OL's we mostly pedestrian during his time here, but he created the illusion that they were better than they really were. Dante had his hands full yearly. Aside from Mankins, Vollmer, Thuney and 2018 Trent Brown, the rest of the lineman were adequate. The 2018 OL was probably their best overall. I'm still waiting for this team to draft their next Bruce Armstrong.
Aaron Rodgers has been the most sacked QB a couple times early in his career as well.
This was because he holds onto the ball for the big play. Greg Cosell broke this down many years ago.

Scar also said none of the LT prospects (Campbell included) this year are worth the #4 pick. So you're saying that Scar is RIGHT that Campbell's arm length doesn't mean he can't play LT but he's WRONG about Campbell not being worth taking anyway? That seems like picking and choosing things that affirm what you think rather than truly valuing his input as a knowledgeable evaluator.

I think Campbell is the best choice.
You don't have to agree, most people want Hunter.
I don't.
Campbell played against the best, Hunter played against mailmen.

Yeah, the red flag for me is that nobody seems to know where Hunter is going to play. I'm not using the #4 overall pick for a "football player". No team has time for that **** at the top of the draft.

I could EASILY BE WRONG, and I'll admit it.
Maybe Hunter is awesome, but he is NOT going to play full time both sides. It's just not going to happen.
