After putting up one of the greatest combine performances at the EDGE position on a par with Myles Garrett, Stewart has probably separated himself, for now, as EDGE 2 in this class. If Abdul Carter is a probability for the Titans, Stewart does now become someone that should at least be considered at 4 overall. How often do you get the chance to draft one of the most athletic edge rushers in the NFL?

Of course, as discussed in the combine thread, the issue with Stewart is his lack of production. Only 6 career sacks (2 in 2024), a 67.2 pass rush grade, and only a 12.4 pass rush win rate (Abdul Carter 22.6%).

I think the debate about measurable v production is a worthwhile one to have.

Is he the next Danielle Hunter or a prospect you want someone else to take the risk on?

I don't consider this a post-combine overreaction. That was a historical performance and accounting for the fact that the consensus is that there's not much to separate prospects 4-25 , I do think he jumps up into the top 10 at least.

This is what I anticipated for Mike Green but he elected not to participate due to hamstring tightness.

Lack of production is certainly not an issue for him.

The production is key IMO. We've seen guys with great measurables shoot up the chart only to fail in the league because there's a huge difference in being athletic and being a football player. I agree that he looked really good yesterday, but I think you have to look at the body of work as a whole.

One thing we need to find out is if any injuries were involved. I remember a similar production versus potential conversation when the Pats selected Chandler Jones, we found out afterwards that he was playing hurt his entire last season in college. If he’s not hurt, and he’s just athletic but not yet a football player, that’s a real dilemma. If we were a good team that had a bad year for various reasons (like the 49ers and Cowboys at 11 and 12), I’d take him as if he reaches his potential, he might push you over the top. In the Patriots case, we just need blue chip players, and I’d rather go safe with someone who has a lower bust potential. Just my opinion.

Reminds me of Keion White with the flexibility to play inside and out.

Agreed. Feels like Vernon Ghohlston 2.0. They need to hit on R1.

I know Tyrell Williams is not the DL coach, but he is considered one of the most experienced in the league. Does that change the narrative?

Pearce is an OLB/sub rusher with that size and arm length. Stewart is a legit every down prospect.
Agreed.

Measurables for Green might place him in the same category as Pearce

Stewart is no mystery he's ranked Top 4 or Five by most sites.A Testament o how Great the Dept is at that position. Mike Green that Marshall kid is pretty good too.

I'm sold on taking him at 4. Granted we stil have Pro Days that could move the needle yet again.
I want to see how Mykel Williams tests at his pro day. He doesn't have Stewart's bend but I love his heavy hands.
