2025 Draft: WRs

If you want an X receiver in this draft, look no further than Colorado State's Tory Horton.

6-3, sub 4.4 speed, great body control and will catch passes at full extension.

He had a season ending injury this year (knee) but his coach said he'll be fine for the spring although there is no information on the specifics of the injury so it'll be interesting to see what happens at the combine. Had over 1100 yards receiving in 2022 and 2023 so very consistent and is a punt returner to boot.

I have to say, as football message boards go Patsfans.com probably has the best draft forum going.
Like night and day.
I went over to the Titans draft forum to see who they favor at #1
It was like I was reading “green eggs and ham” compared to this forum

Sub-4 speed??? Fastest man of all time.

(Jokes aside, he's impressive.)

Elic Ayomanor vs Travis Hunter

I really struggle with Ayomanor. When I watch him I see a really competent WR who does almost everything right. He's got good (not great) speed. He's got good (not great) height. in the last two he has a good (not great) contested catch rate. There is a lot to admire, but every time I watch him, I just don't get excited by him.

Even here, going up against Travis Hunter, in a game where he exploded for 294 yards, it's mostly short slants, one big yardage gain where the CB fell and an excellent (albeit slightly lucky) catch.

Maybe I'm missing something, but ultimately I just don't see a high ceiling.

I have come to have a ton of faith in Nate Tice as a draft guy. Not saying I think we should take him at 4, but Nate has me warming up to the idea.

Late round potential X: Isaiah Neyor. Big body, decent mobility, build-up speed. Not dynamic, not super productive outside of one year, and not an instant starter, but he can get off press (inconsistently, to be fair) and high-point the ball. I like the potential in the 5th - 7th rounds. I expect him to test fairly well, although not out of the world. I think he profiles similarly to Harry, who appeared to have mental/emotional reasons for busting, not purely physical. The talent is there, but Neyor is definitely unpolished at this point. I'd consider him a 7th rounder prior to testing; after the Combine, I expect his stock to rise.

Maybe because he looks uncoordinated and clumsy?

I don't think so - he does seem to be falling across the board. He's at 14 in Daniel Jeremiah's latest top 50 for example.
I would be tempted to Trade Down if that unfolds.

manman leave my guy alone I am very High on that Georgia Receiver. Him and Ricky White are my Two Favorite X WR's in this Draft. I hope A Smith translates better than Mecole Hardman.

Xavier Worthy 2.0

Jury is still out but he seems to be living up to expectations for KC
You can add Golden and Bond to that list.

Not sure he's a traditional X receiver, but I do like Smith.

Mike Vrabel mentioned contested catches in his press conference again today. So here's a list of the top 15 draftable WRs based upon contested catch rate and having more than 50 catches:

1. Savion Williams, TCU - 81.8%

2. Joey Hobert, Texas State - 70%

3. Ja'Corey Brooks, Louisville - 69.6%

4. Pat Bryant, Illinois - 69.2%

5. Elijah Badger, Florida - 68.8% (Less than 50 catches)

6. LaJohntay Wester, Colorado - 66.7%

7. Jack Bech, TCU - 65%

8. Kyle Williams, Washington St - 62.5%

9. Andrew Armstrong, Arkansas - 62.1%

10. Tre Harris, Ole Miss - 61.5%

11. Xavier Restrepo, Miami - 61.5%

12. Matthew Golden, Texas - 61.1%

13. Konata Mumpfield, Pitt - 60%

14. Roc Taylor, Memphis - 60%

15. Tet McMillan, Arizona - 60%

Jayden Higgins and Emeka Egbuka just miss out.
