Jalen Hurts: Opinions?

HOF 1st ballot. He will win 3-4 more Super Bowls.

Hurts been in Two SB's more than Lamar Jackson - Allen and Herbert.

Yeah he's been in Two SB's already won one: Allen and lamar = 0.
And he has the benefit of the best ol and dl in the nfl.
Any JAG could win with that.
He's nowhere close to Josh Allen. What do you think Allen or Mahones would do if they had lines like that?
I like his demeanor but he's not a highly skilled qb.
Maye and Daniels will be both be head and shoulders better.
He can be a top 6-10 guy, which is good.
I don't see him being a top 5 guy consistently, especially once Daniels and Maye have a few years under them.
And Maye gets a legit ol and wr.
That'll take a few years.

I think with a championship in hand these stats compare fairly close that you can make a case that Hurts is number 2 and your going to need a better argument than look at the OLs.

He is perfect for eagles and they might win 1 or 2 more in next 5 years before salary cap hell hits them. But donno if they will just have 2 lean years before they reset again with a rookie QB say once hurts is in mid 30s. They have 310 million $ in void years which would need to be paid back.

Mac Jones would have been a SB champ with that much talent on that Eagles team.

I still don’t buy into Hurts.

The Eagles wouldn’t have made the playoffs with Mac Jones at QB. Both Brown and Smith would have been reduced to 3 YPC with that wet noodle arm throwing to them. This is why I want the Steelers to trade their first ground pick for Mac.

No one does, and yet all the kid's ever done in college and the NFL is win.

I wonder how much Saban benching him in the SEC Championship game (where he was pretty bad), for Tua Tagavailoa colored people's perceptions of him.
Actually, is was the National Championship Game that he was benched at halftime and Tua came in as a freshman and made the famous walk off 2nd and 26 throw. Jalen had a record of 25-2 at Alabama before being benched.

Jalen didn't tuck his tail and run. He stayed at Alabama for another year as the backup. It was during that seasons SEC Championship Game where Tua got hurt, we were down, and Hurts came in and won the game.

Even with all the great QBs we had with Saban, Hurts is my favorite. He is a leader, a winner, and he doesn't have to be a super star.

I’ll be one to admit I thought he would be a bust out of college, but he ended up having the most important qualities you could ask for in a QB….natural leader, tough, and doesn’t fold under pressure….

Compare him and Mac’s toughness ( you can’t really, but JH can take a beating) that was a joke really but heres his injury …. I’m not familiar with the site. It was the first result I got and the format looks good imo.

Mac has nothing on me!

On the one hand-Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, Joe Flacco and a few other QB's who won SB's are not in, nor should be placed in the HOF. On the other hand-Hurts is still young and still developing as a QB. Time will tell how good, if not great he can be. For this SB Win, he did everything that the Eagles needed him to do. In Brady's 1st SB Win, he was essentially a "Game Manager" (albeit a successful one and given he was only in his 2nd Season). It was in Brady's 2nd and 3rd SB Wins that he really started the ball rolling on his Legend. In this SB, Hurts had a better Team than Brady did in Brady's 1st SB Win. And, he also had more starting QB time and experience. I'm happy for Hurts and I'm far from being a Fan of the Eagles. As with most things, only time will tell where Hurts will end up with regards to his success purely as an NFL QB beyond his accomplishments thus far.

Seriously? Hurts is nowhere close to Allen and I'm not a big Allen fan.
If you gave Allen the same ol,wrs,te and dl his #'s would be ridiculous.
Cmon man,be serious.

They're not that different.

In some alternate history, Pats could've drafted him in 2020 instead of Dugger or trading to the Chargers. We would've missed out on the Cam and McCorkle eras.

The Eagles roster is really good almost everywhere though. Good line, two number 1 receivers, record-breaking RB, decent TE. Hurts probably looks bad with the recent Pats rosters and many meh quarter backs probably would look good on the Eagles.

He joins a very short list of starting QBs that has won a National Championship and a Super Bowl

Joe Namath (HOF)
Ken Stabler (HOF)
Joe Montana (HOF)
FIFY. Tom was Brian Griese's backup at Michigan in 1997 when they won the national championship

His throwing is underrated. The 46 yd TD pass to Smith was perfect, the same pass Mahomes hit Worthy on that everyone raved about. His throws down the sideline are maybe the best in the league, like the 4th down to Brown where they called OPI. Brown and Smith are always making tiptoe catches leaning out of bounds, which shows Hurts’ accuracy. I can’t think of a throw he can’t make - strong, accurate arm.

He’s also a top running qb. Best at sneaks without question, to great effect, like a fullback. When a play breaks down, he has Lamar-like acceleration out of there and makes huge gainers out of them.

He’s really good.

Saquan was the missing piece that got them over the hump. He effectively let Hurts be RB2 instead of RB1. Which meant his effectiveness did not diminish in the later parts of the season as it had in years past.

This is the first time I've seen a team approach a QB like Hurts correctly. Limit his exposure to hits, treat him like a RB.

I made several predictions prior to the game, to several friends and family. I said, if it’s a close game in the 4th quarter, and the Chiefs shut down Barkley, Mahomes and the Chiefs will pull out the victory. I said Hurts isn’t good enough to win it on his own.

But my other prediction was, the Eagles could possibly blow out the Chiefs to win the game, they can’t win in a close game and leave it up to Hurts.

I was slightly right but MOSTLY wrong. Hurts proved to the world that he’s a top 5 QB (IMO). Chiefs shut down Barkley but the Eagles still killed the Chiefs. Hurts was awesome. The bomb to Smith was the cherry on top, what a perfect 55 yard bomb.
