Jalen Hurts: Opinions?

I think this guy became one of my favorite quarterbacks in the league currently last night. I loved how stoic and cool he was last night and you could tell he was completely locked in the entire game. He didn’t really show emotion until the clock struck 0 and even when he got a touchdown he didn’t do a celebration pose. He gave it to his teammate and let him do the victory lap. This guy was not to celebrate until the game was over and I think he’s matured a lot. Two years ago in the Nfccg he was singing fly eagles fly. He got humbled and I think that loss matured him. What does everyone else think of him?

He played incredible. The Chiefs went into that game saying "we are going to stop Barkley and dare Hurts to beat us". Well Hurts rose to the occasion. He deserves a ton of credit. This is his second Super Bowl appearance as well. So looks like the NFC has a guy who can actually consistently show up there for once.

Was a legacy defining game imo. He’ll always have this game.

Hes 6-3 in the playoffs and in 266 attempts hes thrown 10tds and 3 picks. He is now a Super Bowl Champion.

I wouldn't put him in that "elite passer" category just yet but in terms of being a "quarterback", if I had to win a game (which is how I measure QBs) he'd be in my top 5 no question.

He's ahead of Lamar Jackson in that regard.

Hurts isn't going to dice you up for 500 yards passing from the pocket, but he's good with his running instincts, doesn't stay stuck in bad plays, and is usually pretty good with the football, protecting it. Also is a smart kid, who's only going to get better as time goes on. I'm a fan. He'll never be in the 'elite' conversation, but he's going to have a lot of hardware when it's all said and done.

His receivers make him look real good. I still don't think he can go through all his reads under pressure, or that he can make all the throws. I don't think you can be elite for a long time if you can't do those things. However, I don't know if there are enough good lineman in the league for more than a few true drop back passers anyway.

Hard to tell when every position group around him is the best in the league. Daniels and maybe even Maye could have ended up as rookie QB champs on that team.

What you can't argue with is results so he's definitely worth the money as things stand.

They don't ask him to go through a bunch of reads under pressure. If your 2nd read isn't there, go extend the play or run until one of your all-pro type receivers gets open.

That's where good coaching comes in.

I mean, Philadelphia, staying disciplined and still trying to run the ball in the first half made all the difference, because they could get anything they wanted through the air, but keeping Kansas City's defense on the field (And Mahomes off of it), made all the difference. They got up 10-0, and knew Reid would start panicking, and he did.

I think Bernie Kosar was a backup on one of the Jimmy Johnson Cowboys teams (was QB for MIA in 1983 when they beat Nebraska)

He's not (yet) a great QB, but he played great in the moment, and elevated his game. This win is completely on his shoulders.
Barkley was stonewalled, and Hurts won with his legs & his arm. Great for him.

He can still become a great QB, but at the moment, he has answered the question if he belongs in that top 7 active QB.
The argument becomes - is he better than Allen? better than Wilson? better than Lamar?

Yeah he's been in Two SB's already won one: Allen and lamar = 0.

Good questions. He's tied with Wilson right now (who spent the next decade doing nothing to add to it), and is better than Allen and Jackson, who haven't even sniffed the Super Bowl yet.
