First, the staff will likely deal with decisions regarding
Hooper
Hasty
Wise
Ekuale
Ellis
Ximinez
Austin
Jon Jones

Hawkins
I don't understand the Board's fascination with Elliss. Hooper, Austin, and Jones I agree with. Hopefully we replace the others.

Me either but some of these guys can play depth roles we just need to find better starters.

They also have a young (about 28) starting CB (who'll be an UFA). If they keep Higgins, they will be hard pressed to keep some important players from this past season, and acquire players in the next year or two in FA. Also, Metcalf has said that he doesn't want to play in the Boston Area. He likes the Team, just not the area. So, we can cross of a trade for him.
Tell DK Metcalf go suck eggs.

Free agency needs to start with:
a: One of Alaric Jackson, Cam Robinson or Ronnie Stanley at LT

b: Morgan Moses at RT

Then go from there

I want a Godwin or Kupp for the sheer fact they’ll help your very young QB develop. Having guys who can run correct routes and be where you need them to be is probably something Maye has yet to have. Both have a ton of injuries and they’re not part of what you hope is your rebuilt roster but it greatly helps the development of the most important player on your team

If Kupp is losing a step it’s a big issue for him, as his 40 time coming out was 4.62. He can’t get much slower and still play WR in the NFL.

I'd want cheaper than that.
I'm sure that if we try hard we can find cheap players, with playing quality to match their compensation.

There will be a negotiation. If we don't want to pay $4M, he'll likely get it somewhere else.

Elliss was an UDFA. Pick a LB or two in R5 to R7 (we have extra picks this year), and we get a better player at a much lower cost. It is easy to replace JAGs.

An interesting approach. Do you believe this about all UDFA's? Just because a player was originally a late round draft pick or an UDFA does NOT mean that you can replace him with a late rounder or UDFA this year and expect the new player to be a good replacement. But you well understand that.

The team will decide what they think Ellis is worth going forward and they will negotiate with him. STer's and backup LB's who have played well are worth a roster spot. Staff will decide how much and decided whether to move on.

My personal guess is that Ellis will be coming to Training Camp. He is an RFA so if he stays, he will likely get much more than you would want him to be paid.

Seems that One-If is saying once a UDFA rookie, always a JAG.

So all we need to do is use our round 5-6-7 picks on a C and two CBs and we will upgrade from David Andrews, Jon Jones, and JC Jackson.

Easy peasy. Even a caveman could do it.

But maybe draft evaluation is not a perfect science, and maybe guys can continue to improve once they’re drafted. So maybe Ellis is worth bringing back to see how he stacks up after a year of learning how to be a pro.

I think kupp comes more with his agility and selling of routes to create separation

My answer would be I don't want someone else cheaper either we have plenty of cap space I'm not trying to bargain shop. I'll take Ellis back but not quite at 4 mil. At that point I'd rather spend more and get more.

He's an excellent player.

But he may not be the sharpest tool in the toolbox.

Why would you drive your potential market by saying you absolutely refuse to play for a team that has more money to spend than anyone else?

He's not too bright, is he?

From what I saw he didn’t. He said mass isn’t a desirable place to live. Big difference.

Edit: as a former resident, it’s not. Like many places it’s got nice areas. History, sure. All I can think of at 4:23am..

I don't live in Massachusetts.

But I am going to retire there. A lot of my friends already have.

To each his own.

He's still driving down his market.

One of Bill Belichick’s most underrated game plans. The Steelers were built for the ground and their defense stifled Bettis who was getting visibly upset. That got a young Rothlisberger to start throwing the ball (which he really didn’t want to do early in his career) and turned it over multiple times.
Absolutely correct.. McAllister was put in to try to give a different look to our front.. but duece and bettis are the same type of player.. I remember that game was one of the coldest every.. although I think the divisional game against Tennessee was the coldest right? If we can get any semblance on defense of what the those patriots defenses were the league is in trouble.
