I don't think it's advocating for Wolf as much as trying to work through what the plan seems to be.

There's a big difference running the football operations, and being a top scout or the #2 guy.

I don't want Wolf making the final decisions, but am happy with his input and insight.

The fact these guys can make so called "lateral moves" or work in more or less the same position minus the title, and skirt certain requirements makes the whole damn thing absurd. What's to stop them from creating some new position with some unrelated title to poach an OC and having essentially 2 OC on their team? Not complaining about any of the processes, but just really find it amusing since the NYFL cares so much about "integrity". In regards to what you said about VP of Player Personnel vs Executive VP above.....how do they know some team isn't doing just that? How do they know that 2 different dudes aren't doing the same thing? lol laughable.....
We had 2 DCs for a few years neither had the title

UVA probably gave him the law degree without him even showing up because his dad was the school's football coach.
LOL highly possible.

Psych degree from Princeton, law degree from UVA, how the hell is he not in Indy working for Junkie Jimmy?
Speaking of him, he is an episode of American Primeval.

F his dad. I'll never forget him slipping Our Tommy the knife while licking Fraudgers balls

The way I see it is:
We have all been complaining that we have the smallest Coaching and FO in the NFL
I too understand and was frustrated with Wolf last year
They bring in Cowden with a position one step under Wolf
So now we have 2 Director of Personel guys instead of one
Cowden is there to keep continuity if/when Wolf gets terminated
Vrabel is in charge and now has a DOP with knowledge of the current team’s players and draft system
He also now has a DOP that knows what type of players Vrabes wants and will be his sounding block in that room

Hopefully Wolf is better in year 6 in the organization
He was first hired as a consultant.

He got promoted to director of scouting.

At this point he's still below Bill and Groh.

Once Bill got Fired he was put ahead of Groh but still couldn't implement all his own ideas until after the 24 draft when he officially gets named EVP. He has to rely on the work already done in Bill's last season (yes he did some of that work but under Bill's grading). He's had our scouts working his own system for this college season.

Not advocating that he deserves more time just pointing out that he has not been at the forefront very long.

If I had to guess they are relying on his system this year either way so they mine as well give him the rest of the draft process to work with Cowden and depending how that goes he could be safe or there could be changes after the draft.

Ok. Just watched an interview by Tom Curran with Vrabes
Curran asked a question about OC’s that may help Maye
Vrabel said “ I am looking forward to interviewing them all. We have the time”
If Wolf was in charge wouldn’t he be doing the interviewing
I’m sure Vrabel would have said Eliot and myself will be interviewing candiadates
It sure seems like Vrabel has been giving the keys.
But will in earnest collaborate with Wolf and Cowden

As I said, hope he’s better in year 6 when his ideas are apparently implemented and we are suppose to ignore all his prior scouting and personnell work if it fell on deaf ears and he was just a guy in the room. Give him the mulligan on all prior input, and guys like Okorafor, Osborn, Polk, Watts, etc.

What do you think Bruschi was referring to when he referenced the last few years, not only last year?

That had to be directed at Wolf when he heard (probably from Vrabel) that the organizational structure was murky still.

Coaches hire assistant coaches, not personnel guys.

With Wolf, some of us are worried that Vrabel is not going to pick the groceries.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how Vrabel goes about putting his team together. He’s going to make them nasty, and that’s exactly what I want to see from them.

My first thought was Krafts but Bruschi must love them so I don't know

I’m worried about everything Wolf touches. Bad FA (with a ton of money), Polk over McConkey, Baker a bust, complete failure to make any improvements to the OL.

That’s all bad enough but keep in mind Wolf has been deeply involved in the personnel department for several years. His failures didn’t start last season.

I think it’s a big mistake to leave Wolf in his current position. On the bright side Vrabel’s guy is #2 which tells me who will generally have the final say.
